Dr. Splan’s research interests generally center on quantitative genetics, conformation and biomechanics, but she is innately curious about most things equine. In addition to her ‘horse-centered’ research efforts, Dr. Splan has recently forayed into the scholarship of teaching and learning as it applies to equine science education. She seeks to discover how undergraduates can become more self-regulated learners and how the horse can be used to facilitate cognitive and affective development.
