George Morris on the SS list

Seems to me that this statement is an admission of his own guilt

When I read that number, I assumed it was ‘bragging’ but how disgusting and vile a person must be, to think that is brag-worthy, just las bragging about ‘p****y grabbing’ is an indicator of a truly vile person. :frowning:

Did you read her post? I would have linked it, but COTH seems to block each and every single post I make with a link in it. This has been going on for over a month. So someone else later kindly linked to her FB post.

she indicates the investigation into GM has been ongoing for over a year, and confirms he has threatened to “take others down with him” and the whole situation has been unraveling for some time. Her post was pretty decent in my opinion. Sad for sure. Good for her for being one of a rather limited number of professionals to speak up in the hunter jumper community and not tow the pathetic “Well… Safe Sport has problems and I just don’t know” line…

Go ahead and call me Captain Obvious - the can of ugly, disgusting worms has been opened by SafeSport and there won’t be any putting the lid on it. I think that many of our so called “great equestrians” are dreading the findings. While others may be shocked at the names that come out, many will amazingly still stand by them. It’s not going to be pretty!

No idea who is being vocal in support other then what I read on here and don’t know most named. Recognize family name but not that particular person. Wondering, have many of his very well known former clients, International riders he coached over the decades and former business partners joined the vocal and active support group?

I am sure this has been mentioned…

Soresi’s date of suspension was the same date as GM’s ban. Looks like Soresi, who plead guilty to child pornography and is on the sex offenders list for that, was only suspended!! Seems like he should be lifetime banned too right? And he is very likely the source/victim, especially when you take the post from Dover into account. GM may still be guilty, but only a suspension for child pornography? Makes me question the SS process a bit…

the party line.

If it weren’t so tragic it would be downright laughable

Whoops I meant to say Chris, I was reading Carl Hester above that

It was linked upthread somewhere:

And it is a public post, so I think is OK to share here.

I hope she has someone copyedit it a bit and publishes it as an OpEd piece. It’s quite good, and thoughtfully written.

She’s a well-respected pro & has been around for awhile. I thought it was an excellent post, & told her so.

Her former in-laws were directly threatened with harm by GHM.

I had to double take when you posted because I thought you wrote Carl Hester at first and I was going to cryyyyyyyyyy lol

Its the party line that only getting a suspension for child porn seems light? I have kids, I’d like SS to permanently ban anyone that has plead guilty to child porn, and is on the sex offender list. It’s not a rumor, or an accusation when the person pleads guilty, at that point BANNED FOR LIFE! As far as GM he may be guilty too, but as of today he has not plead guilty in a court of law. And he is banned… does that make sense?

George Morris didn’t love his horses. Please, let’s be clear on this. George caused one horse’s death by illegal pole-ing in a public space. Horses were his income, they were his mounts or students’ mounts for glory.

People who abuse humans openly in public often abuse animals even more easily in private. Animals who will never speak out. If that is what he finds acceptable in public, what was he doing in private?

I joined the group. As stated: 1. We need to hear out allegations. 2. I hoped he could prove allegations unfounded (I am not sure how that happens). I am shocked, truly shocked at some of the people. Now- some may be silent observers, such as I, awaiting the appeal. But some of the people commenting has me rethinking some of my acquaintances.

I am so, so glad that it was not Carl Hester!

I think we should use peoples’ entire names, not just initials, unless the person is the main topic of discussion, such as GHM. It would avoid a lot of confusion.

I will not join the group, but I would love to have someone pm me a list of his most heinous supporters, so that I can avoid them.

There are a number of mitigating factors that can go into determining the sanctions, apparently, including date of trangression(s), repeat offences, admittance of guilt, current risk to minors. It may well be that their investigations determined that one of them was a one-time offender who presents a low risk now, and that one of them was a repeat offender who may still pose a risk.

Look again at Jonathan Soresi’s sanction. It shows him as ineligible, which he is, because he’s a sex offender. Refer to SafeSport code, page 8: “Sex Offender Registry A Participant who is currently on any state, federal, territorial, or tribal sex offender registry is ineligible to participate.”

Automatic ineligibility, no investigation required.

George likes riding horses, not horses. He says himself he knows little about horse care.

I can’t remember, did the sick client horse die at the show when George refused to call a vet cause he was going to dinner? I cannot remember if the horse died. There was a lawsuit, but I cannot remember if the horse died.

I figured the oblique reference was to her connections from her first marriage.

I thought her post was fair and honest and human, and above all, she showed compassion and empathy and balance.

There is a serious issue with respect to a lack of compassion and empathy at the root of almost all abusive behavior in society. Kristin has struck a really important balance TWICE now, publicly, in the wake of RGs suicide, and now the GM Safe Sport announcement.

Above all… she comes across as a professional who truly cares about the sport, and what the next generation will inherit. She’s thinking bigger than just herself, and her contemporaries. I’m biased and tend to identify with other mothers, who also approach most of life with the perspective of a mother. She speaks of being able to compartmentalize well… I admittedly don’t. I think of everything with my “Mom” brain these days. Regardless, I find her voice and perspective really important in the current moment. And tragically… altogether unique. I wish there were more high profile people echoing her sentiments publicly.
