George with his pretty mum *UPDATED with text saga of gender confusion

George and Kiss

I love this pic. Kiss looks like her calm, patient self, and George, sporting a stand-up crew cut in the style of Grace Jones circa 1980, can’t wait for the rain to stop so he can go out.

Update: In post 10, you can see screenshots of the text conversation in which Glenbaer discovered that George was not a filly.

Oh my gawd, those ears! Love him.

That is too sweet!!!

Wait a minute. You did not name this horse George Morris.

That would be too funny. And now, Andrea Normanskill, riding George Morris. Imagine taking him to a GM clinic. George on George.

No. The colt named George was – for the first five hours of his life – a filly called Georgie. ‘She’ was named by Glenbaer, who is responsible for a small breeding operation and claims to know her way around a horse. Ahem.

I was just an innocent bystander on a mobile phone several hundred miles away, eager for news of my 2015 foal, which was apparently a filly. But after several hours, Glenbaer noticed something and realized that Georgie the filly was really a ‘he’.

(This was all revealed to me via text and, yes, I did screen capture the exchange. Priceless.)

So the youngster became George. He doesn’t seem at all damaged from the mix up. He’s a very cheery foal.

He’s absolutely adorable.

Also, that text exchange is worth keeping for posterity. Because how, exactly, does one mention that perhaps the gender was misconstrued?

George is a cutie, but I couldn’t stop looking at his mum. That face makes me swoon.

Just a lovely photo of two very nice horses! Great job JER to see Kissy’s potential.

George is adorable (as his his mum) and giving me a serious case of Foal Envy!

Because you asked, here are the screenshots, as they happened in real time:

Part 2
Part 3

I’m never going to live this one down.:winkgrin: Sleep deprivation, stress, I can contribute excuses like there is no tomorrow. Rereading the texts, I must admit, that really is absolutely hilarious.

Good news is that George is following in Zizi’s footsteps as a stunning, playful, precocious, brilliant little creature. Yesterday he realized that he doesn’t have to stay with mom, and that open gates do, indeed, mean escape possibilities. Kiss is (and will continue to be) wrapped up in keeping him in line, and all is well.

Please, really, would you do this? It would crack everyone up!

Congrats on the new one!
