German ex-toprider caught (again) on hidden camera (*warning* horse abuse)

Abuse

I posted this over on the other thread and have never posted on the dressage thread but I have to say I am very happy to see so many of you disagree with this behavior and expose a trainer for this. I was told by a PM that her lawyers were going to come after me if I put her name up. Glad to see all of you have done that already. LETS GET RID OF THIS HORRIFIC SO CALLED TRAINER.

"I have been told to not mention this woman’s name. Why do some of you out there feel these types of people should be protected??? I have seen this type of abuse for far too many years in our country too and it is just shocking to me to see so many try to sweep this under the table and be too “AFRAID” to say or do something. Those of you out there that call yourselves horsepeople need to get a backbone and expose these kinds of actions to the WORLD!!

You know how Americans can be when someone just has an accent “they know how to teach Dressage” EVERYONE watch out for this one, if she tries to come over here we need to finish her before she ever gets started!!!

Unbelievable! But I have also seen one of our previous “Team Dressage Riders” beat their horses with 2 x 4 boards to make them Piaffe. So, it is just not happening overseas, it happens here too. These types of people have to be exposed so that their clients & money disappear."

what are some of the fines or penalties in Germany for those with a history of abuse ?

I know in a case in the USA where the owner repeatedly hit her horse with the chain part of the leadline, the county officials of New York state were able to: 1) permamently remove horse from her care/ownership, 2) put her in an anger management program.

There was no video in this case, but several witnessess who were able to prove a history of abuse.

It’s all depending on her lawyers, maybee they will come up with a case of child-abuse, insanity, trauma and…and… or who knows.

Never the less my guess is a lifetime ban to stay away from horses (I hope any kind of animals) and Euro 10.000,=.

But please close your borders.

I’m a bit confused. So this individual was previously charged and convicted in Germany, was sentenced and now she has moved to Denmark and this video depicts her recent antics in Denmark? If so, why is she again in court in November in Kiel? Is there another charge for an incident in Germany? Are there charges pending in Denmark?

I keep being haunted by her quote, “What was I supposed to do?” MANY suggestions have come to me, but I think the most pertinent is try beating yourself 500 times with your steel tipped whip and then put a bullet between your eyes to ensure you never touch another living creature again. I just cannot get this ugly, evil incident out of my head. Poor, poor Wimbledon. Someone should really start a website where the international community can express their outrage over this and their concern about training methods in general - I’m not just pointing a finger at dressage, but why not lead the way in self-examination and animal husbandry? It is our responsibility to be pro-active, I think, in not taking undue advantage of the horse’s nature to accomodate training practices that are too severe or distressing. If that is a laughable or naive standard, I will waive that flag proudly and loudly for as long as it takes until someone listens. (need clenched fist emoticon!)

Here is a link of (a part) of the footage used in court last year.

Based on this and whitness statements she was convicted.

Now they caught her again in Denmark, and the Danish authorities handed it over to the German authorities.

Thanks, Mod1. Get a grip, Ridgeback.[/QUOTE]

You get a grip MelantheLLC! How dare you… That woman is lower that low. I can’t get that whole video out of my mind! Are there any updates on this case?

I wish I never watched it… where is the horse now?

Need some stones?!

Calm down, Honey! Cooler heads must prevail!

Haunting. There are no words. I wish I hadn’t watched that video. Everyone go hug their horses please… and ride without whips for a day or two!

I don’t know what this person was thinking she was attempting to do with these beatings but she sure is on her way to spoiling that horse she was beating into rearing. Just a plain old mean ass b*tch is what I see. Was it Wimbledon that was put down? He didn’t seem hurt that bad or did she lame him permanently? It said A horse had to be put down but didn’t ID a particular one. Is it known info. that Wimbledon was the unforunate and why he had to be put down? This is the type of person that shouldn’t be allowed within a mile of an animal.

Shouldn’t this be something the higher up EU courts put a stop to? Really, she should be banned in all EU countries for a start. I’m not quite sure how it works but there is such a court.

All I can say is shocking. I couldn’t watch all the video. And MR. Equilibrium was more mortified. I can tell you the only time he would ever risk going to jail is for pulverizing a person such as this.

Poor horse, how the heck would he trust anyone ever again?

Terri

duck or chicken?? I got both…

best

I, for one, cannot imagine just standing by and watching while something like this ocurred right in front of me! That guy in the video should be ashamed.

Okay. So the first video was of her now in Denmark. What is she being charged with such that she has a court appearance in Kiel? Some sort of breach of probation or something like that? Would there not be a jurisdictional issue? Any breach would have been committed in Denmark not Germany.

Perhaps there is some sort of EU thing that allows a country to prosecute someone for an offence committed in another EU country.

Well, at least she won’t be able to argue any mitigating factors this time…

Oh honestly. I was talking about Ridge getting all upset because her posts about the wrong person were deleted, not about the video.

She has gone back now and edited the post I responded to, but there was a reason I said get a grip and it had nothing to do with the video.

Sonesta, I was just going to post this. How can anyone just stand there and do NOTHING? He is guilty by association as far as I am concerned.

Poor horse… I can’t believe someone can do this over and over again… well, I can… how awful!

Sonesta, my thoughts exactly but what came to mind was when the breaking of Streetwise’s leg needed to be caught on video in order to convict. Maybe the same thing applies here.

I couldn’t watch it all. So not only is this poor horse’s nose shoved into his chest, and he’s on a tight circle - so let’s not discuss what’s going on his spine, this sorry excuse of a scum for a human being beats the horse as well?

I hope whoever it is is prevented from owning, showing, riding, training, or being in the vicinity of any animal. Not just horses.

OMG my posts were not deleted when you posted that…trouble with the truth Melanthe? That post was deleted by the moderator along with others who brought up the wrong Christine, again if some had read what I actually wrote there would not have been a problem.

Had the person not videoed it she most likely would have gotten away with it… Although I would have videoed just enough then jumped in and turned the whip on her;)
