Get of Sire/Progeny of Dam

Can someone explain what a Get of Sire and Progeny of Dam class is?

I read the description for a breeders show and I don’t think I fully understand… then I googled it and now I am more confused.

Can someone explain

  1. Eligibility for a class like this
  2. What is being judged

I see on the class list the Stallion/Mare are named as the competitor instead of the resulting foal/yearling that is in the ring.

I’m looking at an entry for a show for Hunter, Jumper, and Dressage bred horses.

Get of sire is where two or more youngsters by the same sire are judged on the triangle like in other breed show classes. They are judged on the ability of the sire to “stamp his get,” so similarities between horses with the same sire. And also the quality of the horses by the same sire. It’s more of a review class, and basically like the stallion getting scored by looking at his offspring. I’ve only seen this class with a small amount of entries, but I’d imagine at larger shows multiple stallions would be judged through their offspring by these criteria.

Product of mare is the same, except mare is judged through her offspring instead of sire.

Thanks Dutchmare!

I kinda figured that was what it was, then I got confused when I saw a class list with a stallion only being represented by only one offspring.
