I don’t do that much on Facebook, so I had not heard about it. Terribly sorry for your loss.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Friends can be family when they’ve been in your life that long. It’s really rough.
I will be fully geared up if I’m ever brave enough to try eventing.
Every day that goes by I am more and more reminded of my mortality. It’s to the point where I have started wearing my vest at all times, not just when doing notably risky stuff.
Deeply sorry for your loss.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot even imagine.
I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through, and can hardly imagine the grief, doubts and fear you must be facing after these incredibly unlucky, and unlikely, accidents happened to both you and your beloved friend. I’m glad you can still go out and ride Peanut to stay connected with him as you work through this. Wishing you all the best. Recovering may take a long time, but I’m sure you’ll get back to galloping and jumping with confidence again.
Eight broken ribs! You only have nine per side. Owwwweeee!
You’re a beast.
I thought I was tough when I broke five.
Lying down and getting out of bed felt more painful than any part of childbirth. Once my neighbor gave me her daughter’s bolster, a puffy top of a chair that sits up against my headboard, I could actually sleep though. I waited three weeks to get back on my launchpad, er, horse, though, and wore an old, tight, Kevlar jump vest for a few weeks.
So sorry to hear of the loss of your Sister.
Some friends are dearer then family.
I get flak from my Driving Club for wearing a helmet.
Notably not from those with actual CDE Cred
I’m looking into one of the helmet covers designed to look like the fancy hats worn in a Turnout class.
I don’t show often (ever?) but I do love my hats
I saw an online tutorial on how to put a western straw hat on a safety helmet, if they can do it for western hats, then you can do it for fancier hats too.
Here’s one example:
I think you could do a much nicer job than this, and put the entire bonnet over the helmet.
I’m so sorry for your loss.
You should reach out to this woman: https://barbarascustomhats.com/. She’s a western hat maker, yes, but she made this for a Facebook friend of mine recently. It looks so much nicer than any other cowboy hat/helmet hybrid I have ever seen. If anyone could make you a lovely driving hat from a helmet, it would be her. Fair warning: she is not inexpensive.
I am so sorry for your loss
There’s already a lady (in CA, IIRC) who makes the hat helmet covers.
She calls them something Chapeau, just need to find her site again…
I’m not a skilled DIYer
@Montanas_Girl Driving hats easily run into the mid-hundreds
Check Hats by Katie & Hats Off Boutique.
Sherry from Hats Off reworked the hat I was married in for $65 < dirt cheap for her!
Only thing original is the satin rose
@RAyers apologies for the Fashionista hijack
I’m sorry that you’ve lost a good friend, a constant presence in your life, and so suddenly.
Hang in there.
I didnt read the whole thread, but would you please stop trying to harm yourself? Do i need to send a psychiatrist from a disaster zone?
I probably need a psychiatrist but most because of poor decision making skills.
You need to take care of yourself! I’m very glad you and your family are safe, but wow!
I know you two are tough, but just checking in - how is recovery going?

Of course the dressage turned into a canter workout. Peanut was having none of this “trot” crap.
I don’t know how you managed the pain of the broken ribs! I was hell bent to foxhunt about 7 weeks into my recovery from 2 fractured ribs. I made it through but it HURT. However, it was the last hunt of the fall season and since I’d broken the ribs the day before the opening meet, I wasn’t going to miss it.
