Getting in Contact with my OTTB's Breeders (Indiana)?

I’ve owned Lonely Reality, a 2000 model by Tricon and out of Lonely at the Top, since '06. He was bred and Indiana and based off of my research, he was bred by Alan Walsh & Bob Griffith. Owned by “Walsh, Chris, and Allen”, his trainer was Larry W. Holt and his jockey was Martin Escobar. He raced from 2003 - '05 at tracks including Indiana Grand Race Course, Hoosier Park, and Turfway Park.

I’d really love to get in touch with my horse’s breeders (Alan Walsh and Bob Griffith) or anyone who knew him on the track before he was rescued and I got him in '06. I’ve tried searching for them but I’ve come up empty. I’m just interested in seeing getting some more info on him during his racing days and possibly some old pictures of him.

Also, when I searched him on the Jockey Club website, I got a message saying that there were no direct matches for him. Why would this be?

Thank you very much for any help!

You’re not getting a match on the JC names book because the name has been released for reuse. Here are the rules about that:

Look at item E

Here his his info with the JC (you will have to log in to see this.) I always think it’s neat to look at the naming history. The wanted to name your horse Seattle Dot Con, but it was rejected. His original registered name was “Lonely Realaity” (yes, with the spelling error!) which was corrected several months later. Other names submitted were:

Real Proper Time
Top Priority
Seattle Slueth
Super Sleuth

You may want to check with the sire’s stud farm for clues on the breeders or pics. Sometimes they have good leads

This is why

Rule 6e
“Names of horses over ten years old may be eligible for use if they are not excluded under Rule 6(F) and have not been used during the preceding five years either for breeding or racing.”

Jinx haha

Thank you Simike and ladyj79! I tried searching for info on his sire but once again did not have much luck. That name history is fascinating–thank you for sharing it. I tried making an account on there but I’m not sure how you got the name history info. If this were your horse and you were looking to get in touch with his breeders, where would you go from here? Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.

The owners are Alan Walsh & Chris Walsh, which might make searching easier. Larry Holt is still training for them. Here’s the racing office contact info at Indiana Grand, start making phone calls

Thank you!

You might try searching for the Indiana TB Breeders Association, I know our LTBA publishes all members names and address twice a year in our monthly magazine.

I recently got in touch with the breeders of one of my OTTBs through Facebook. Found the farm and let them known. My guy was NOT rescued…he was retired from racing and I bought him. I dropped the breeder a note because he had been dropping down the levels in claimers and in case they were following him, I wanted them to know he ended up in a good hands as you can’t always tell when they go poof and stop racing.

Some breeders and former owners like to follow what happens to their horses, some don’t. In my guys case, they do like to follow so now they have my contact and facebook for me and my farm. I’ll send them a few pictures and up dates as we go. Meanwhile…got a super cute picture of him when he was a foal

I want a super cute foal picture! I’ve only contacted one breeder, Adena Springs, and didn’t even get a formulaic reply. I don’t know if I contacted the wrong person or asked the wrong question or if they just don’t have time to bother with people.

From what I can tell, the people that bred my horse don’t have a large operation so fingers crossed that will be a good thing in terms of getting in touch with them! However, it does mean that I’ve only been able to find a phone number for their race trainer (who trained my horse when he was on the track and appears to still train their horses). Now to find the time to make all these calls… I wish they had an email listed somewhere or appeared in any of my searches!

I recall years ago, Tricon was advertised as a breeding stallion on the Internet. Can’t recall where though.

Not sure if you can Google his name with Thoroughbred and other variations and come up with something.

Here’s the old site. No longer active and this looks to be a mirror of the now defunct geocities page.

I wonder if sending the user “Legacy Farms” a message would yield anything?

Thanks, guys! I’ve been swamped here the past few days so I haven’t had time to do much in terms of contacting anyone but I appreciate your continued help!
