Getting reins re-rubbered?

I am very excited about riding a jumper again, and perhaps absurdly excited about showing with my beautiful Hadfield rubber reins. They are from 1998 and have been sitting (maintained, but sitting) for over a decade. The leather and stitching is in beautiful condition… but the rubber has become brittle, tough and cracked. I seem to remember hearing back in the day that reins can be re-rubbered. Is this (still) a thing? I wouldn’t be so into it, except these were uber expensive and are so pretty  If this is a thing, any ideas in MA for where this can be done? Or if Beval does it?

Thanks!

Yes, it’s still ‘done,’ and yes, Beval does do it!

Here’s a list of repair services offered by Beval (and prices):

I have all of my rubber reins redone by the Amish at Bartville Saddlery. They’re the same people as NunnFiner (I believe) and are cheaper

Oof, Beval is expensive! I’ve had a lot of those listed services done by Bartville or Journeyman’s and they’re way way cheaper.

The Tackeria in Wellington does it for around $100, but you can buy a plain pair of Edgewood reins for $130, so I don’t know if it’s worth it.

Thanks all! The reins were over $200, and are in such beautiful condition otherwise, I will look into it. Some QT with Google led me to someone local who hopefully will even beat Bevals $78 price.
