Getting to LexTran

For those of you who have been there – maybe you can help me out. I’ve been looking at maps online, but I seem navigationally-challenged.

I have to get to the Convention Center for pick-up / drop-off for our Farm Tour. Where is the Convention Center in relation to the LexTran Transit Center? I want to take the LexTran out to KHP after the farm tour …

Can someone help me out here?

There are one or two pickups near the convention center, but if you can get a bit out of town, I parked in the IBM lot on Newpike across from the Marriott at Griffin Gate Park and Embassy Suites. Parking was free and plentiful and then got on at the last stop before the park and was the first exiting stop in the evenings. It was SOOOO smooth!

The bus will stop at the Hyatt, which is adjacent to the Civic Center. You’ll have to go up through the Civic Center shops to High Street and the main entrance of the Hyatt.

Oh thank you guys! I appreciate all the hints, tips and advice I’ve gotten from you all! I only have one day to spend, but I’m not complaining … at least I get to go!

The buses were great. They fill up, but there are always others coming soon after if you miss one. There were more buses than one every half hour. The bus drivers were really great. Not a grumpy one in the bunch! We took the convention center buses and it was easy to find.

Here, I mapped it for you.

The LexTrans main terminal is at 220 E. Vine Street, an easy walk from the Rupp Center/Downtown Convention Center. Maybe 6 blocks at most?

You want the #28 WEG Express. They run tons of them and they are easy to get. It’s $1 each way.

Basically, the heart of downtown is the intersection of Broadway and Main. Have fun. It’s a great downtown, well laid out, and very easy to find your way around. My friend and I drove around a lot and explored and did not get lost. We fell in love with Lexington.

I am nervous because I already paid for the Farm Tour, and I want to go sooo badly. Last year, when David and I were on our honeymoon, we missed our all-day tour of Florence because I got us horribly lost. Now, that turned out okay (other than the wasted $$), because we drove away and spent the day in Cortona instead.

But I told David last night that if we miss this farm tour, I will most certainly cry! (I was disappointed by Florence, but no tears were shed. Cortona was exquisite!)

hours for the shuttle?

How early does the shuttle pick up at the IBM/Griffin Gate location?

Is the pickup point clearly marked?

We got on it downtown, but I’m pretty sure there is a sign where you plan to get on. Just make sure it’s the right sign as I think the regular Lextran that goes up Newtown Pike gets that far. Plus I remember seeing a sign where the horsepark shuttle didn’t stop.
