Gift giving/receiving - more for you, or your horse?

Just for fun!

Just stuff that you buy as a “gift”, for yourself, or for your horse. During November & December. You don’t have to wrap it to qualify it.

Will you spend more on your horse, or on yourself?

Counts all things used on or with a horse, even if it might be more for you than the horse. Like, your horse doesn’t care if she gets the new blingy sparkly halter, it’s you that wants to see it on her, but it counts anyway as “spent on horse”.

Riding clothing and barn wear – not sure which that should count toward. If you didn’t have a horse, you wouldn’t wear it, so … ???

Just having an image of a horse on a thing isn’t enough to count as “spent on horse”. Bracelets, imprinted wallets and purses, that kind of thing - that’s “spent on yourself”.

“Spent on yourself” of course includes all the other “gift” stuff you buy for yourself that has nothing to do with horses. I don’t know what kind of thing would have “nothing to do with horses”, but I’m sure it exists. A bread-maker, maybe, or a couch pillow that isn’t for the couch in the tack room.

In this household, the horse is way out in front. This happens every year for some reason.

Fun thread.

For horse, personalized halter.

For myself, a few books, horse books.
Books count for both, yourself and if they are horse books, for yourself for horses, right?

There is nothing not horse related I can find, sorry.

Bought a new saddle. That one will go 50-50.

Old saddle pad too small for new saddle. New saddle pad. For the horse.

Brushes from seconds bin at tack shop 20 years ago worn out. Slowly amassing new Haas brush set. For the horse.

Trying to find new breeches before my favorite pair wear out in the seat. File under purchased for equestrian pursuits.

Did buy a shoulder massager. Amazing. Definitely for me. But if I could rig it up to work for the horse, he could use it too.

My horses and dogs get it all

New 100gm turnout for them all.
I bought a wholeeeee lot of stuff from Lemieux for my girls lol

If I had to tally up, the horse would come out ahead for the past two years. Most of the things “I” want are really for my horse (ex. a matching saddle pad means nothing to the pony but everything to me). I rarely need to buy new clothing/barn gear and I’m not big on decorative jewelry.
