Gift ideas for senior trail rider?!?

Shopping! What’s a great gift around $100-200 for a senior lady into western trail riding? This is a gal who part-leases a horse, quite newish to the whole thing.

Family has asked me for recommendations and I’m a cranky old DQ farmowner so…i can’t see much beyond matchmatch sets and sparkle browbands when it comes to gift ideas! I want to find something wonderful for them to gift her!

A really well designed set of saddle bags that are designed to fit on her particular saddle.

A really good waist fanny pack for her phone and ID which should not go in the saddle bags.

Depending on the climate, rain gear. I love my Australian Outback ankle length waterproof nylon goretexy shell rain coat that rolls up into a lightweight back pack.

Upgrade her footwear if needed, something that you can walk and ride in, Ariat has good ideas.

Scribbler nailed it!

Possibly a sheepskin or padded seat cover.

My long, waterproof coat is a Kerrit’s not quite knee length. I wish it was about 3-4" longer especially when I’m wearing warm layers underneath. My down vest makes it sit higher on me. But I love the coat. It was an extravagant purchase for my budget and well worth it.

A gift card to wherever she may buy tack or sport clothing?

Then she can buy what she wants.

Tagging on to what Scribbler suggested. I love my Trail Max horn bags. They’re big enough to hold a water bottle, a small lunch, and assorted stuff like horse treats. They’re also very lightweight but tough. Combine with the Trail Max saddle bags and you’re set.

You can also buy things to go in the saddle bag. First aid kit, flashlight, knife, whistle, compass, Vet wrap, small mirror for signaling, small notepad and pen, hoof pick, etc. My son did that for me and it was a great gift.

That is a nice touch, give a bag and add other gifts in the bag.

A multi-tool that includes a hoof pick

All great ideas thank you! They ended up going for fancy saddlebags

If anyone else is brainstorming and runs into this thread - I also found riding skirts (I’ll be getting myself one for next fall - whoops!) and custom oil paintings (probably need those too!).

Riding skirts look amazing. None of my raincoats are completely covering my knees.

@Scribbler Right!?! Also so many times in the winter I want to do night check in a sleeping bag - I feel like these might be next best…
