Gin N Juice

Was watching 2011 Burghley videos, any one know where Ginny Juice is now? I know when the whole thing went down they said another person would be taking the ride over the following spring.

I think its about a year later now, where is she?

She’s a cool horse, would be sad to see her just sitting in a field because of humans not getting along (IMO, just the jist I got of the whole thing).

EN just posted this:

There’s another very familiar name out at Aspen this weekend in Gin & Juice, who is returning to competition for the first time since competing at the 2014 World Equestrian Games with former rider Hawley Bennett. Sara Mittleider has now taken on the ride on the 15-year-old Thoroughbred mare; Sara and “Ginny” scored 18.9 to lead the Open Preliminary division overnight.

What a great pairing! SM knows how to ride TBs and sensitive horses at the ULs: she’s got a string of young horses but, AFAIK, not an established one; and she’s one heckuva rider. With luck going their way, they could be a real factor in the Olympic selections next year.

I agree with vineyridge. Best of luck Sara and Ginny!

Glad to hear Ginny is out showing again but sucks majorly for the Canadian team :frowning:

What is Hawley doing theses days? Does she have a UL horse right now?

P.

Congrats, Sara! And to her aunt who is a COTHer. Hopefully she’ll chime in soon.

I thought Hawley was running a farm in California

Another Canadian horse I haven’t seen out in Ages is Exponential, what’s he doing these days?

They will make an exciting team! Go Sara!!

Congratulations to Sara!!

Pinkdiamondracing spends a lot of time on Facebook these days. Hopefully, she will chime in on the topic.

Nice start

Congrats to Sara, but I wish H Bennett-A still had the ride. I remember watching them on live stream @ Rolex a couple years ago, and thinking how well that mare could jump! THey’re obviously getting along just fine, from the 18.9 they got!

I’m actually her sister, not her Aunt…I couldn’t be happier for her.

Haha! I was thinking that I know her sister and her mom post on COTH, but didn’t know there was an aunt.

So I think Hawley is great and all, but people do make their own beds. She can be an emotional person, which can be a bit of a double edged sword- regardless of whatever responsibility the Paines had in the debacle (granted, compared to the HJ world this is pretty tame and every-day).

Anyway, I also think it was a little tasteless to say that you’d prefer to have HBA riding when this rider produced amazing results at their first outing. 18.9 in dressage and being willing to go slow and pick up time faults on a horse that tends to be a bit of a Ferrari that wants to just “Go! Go! Go!” She could have easily ended on the 18.9 but chose to use the event for something more than just a low score.

This is super exciting for your sister! This is a fantastic and very capable horse to gain upper level experience on! She seems to have a great handle on riding hot and difficult horses!

Let’s not forget that Sara has been around Rolex three times.

I think it’s actually 4 times, and a Burghley (although she retired on course there).

Ginny has completed Rolex 3 times (twice in the top 10, once only in the top 20). She’s also competed at the 2010 and 2014 WEG and the 2012 Olympics. She has also completed Badminton, Burghley, and Pau. Making Ginny the more experienced (although more tempestuous) partner.

I think this is a smart pairing as Ginny is always game for a 4* (almost typed 5*, pretty sure she’d eat it up if there was one). Sara seems to be able to keep the lid on the pot and is entirely capable of giving Ginny the rides she needs to not have the horse over-facing herself with all of her boldness.

I don’t think someone without 4* experience would be capable of riding a horse like Ginny, but Ginny is capable of opening up doors for Sara to give her experience internationally and allow her to ride the big 4* tracks that Sara has yet to conquer.

Either way… Congratulations Sara! This is a wonderful opportunity!

Well I’m going to throw a shout out for Sara and BOTH of her rides in that division.
She took 1st and 2nd.
The 2nd place horse being Mr. Harry Houdini himself.
She has an amazing string of horses. Her other prelim horse being Code Name.

She’s got it goin on!!

wow how creepy is that, I was just asking about Ginny and she was out showing! How cool!

Sad to see she is paired with someone else, as I really did enjoy Hawley and her as a team, but sh*t happens for whatever reasons I’m not sure of.

Sounds like Sarah did well with her, I look forward to following them! I don’t know Sarah, and know nothing about her, look forward to getting to know more about her. Sounds like Ginny may put her name more out there internationally. That horse is fierce!

ETA: Would love to see the pair in action, wonder if there will be anything posted on YouTube.
