Girth spinoff: Shoulder relief girths?

My TSF girths are nice and flexible. I have one of each - long and short. The elastic was very stiff at first, but once broken in I could get it done up two holes further on each side! I find it gets stiff again in the winter (not kept in a heated area).

I actually cross the billets when girthing up my dressage saddle and do the back billet up to the same hole as the front. This creates a tilt in the girth angle which closes the front gap at the horse’s sternum (as the front billet remains vertical). It works well for his conformation.

I just got the TSF girth a couple weeks ago. And its my only anatomical girth I’ve ever tried. I use it on an Albion mono flap (that has fwd leaning billets) and on a horse I don’t own. I have the ride on the horse for only a few months. He is uber skinny, high withers very narrow little TB. And like others mentioned the TSF girth totally gapes up front and digs in tight in the rear. So yeah, its not a good fit. I had avoided the ergo girths for the longest time because a saddle fitter pointed out the OP original theory. That the girth would be like wearing a skinny belt and that it would be more comfortable to the horse to have a wide belt. I might go back to a Wintec elastic or I’ll look into the mohair. BUT I will say that the TSF girth is nice quality leather, soft on the underside.
