Girths - Prolite, Correct Connect, Other?

Need to replace my Prolite girth that has straight up disappeared (it’s been 2-3 months and I’ve not seen hide nor hair so I have no clue where it might be, and how does one even lose a girth?!? It’s not small like a bit! Anyway…). I like the prolite for being easy to clean and the horses seemed to like it enough. The Prolite is a little harder to find in the US and roughly $150 + ship. I do like the data behind the girth.

The correct connect looks interesting and got good feedback in the Dressage forum but I’m not sure that the long girth functions exactly the same (looks like the ends make contact on the long but do not make contact as much/ at all on the short). It seems to use the same concept as the EquiSoft/ Wow H girth (both not as “traditional” looking). Girth will be used on a variety of horses, currently a very leggy very green OTTB to be eventually shown in the Hunters.

Any other ergonomic/ anatomic favorites? Currently using a Majyk Equipe super horse girth but it isn’t drying out between rides and it’s not even summer yet. The magnetic D ring has also lost the magnetic feature and hangs down which I don’t love for perceived safety reasons.

Shoulder Relief Girth™ - Synthetic – Total Saddle Fit

I have this girth and it works really well. My horse loves it. I didn’t like the leather version because I feel it doesn’t flex well and my horse didn’t like it.

I do like the look of the ProLite.

If you’re looking for something to use on a variety of horses I’d probably stick to a pretty basic design, the anatomical ones seems to be hit-or-miss depending on individual horses’ anatomies. My OTTB hated the TSF/Prolite shape but I know some horses really like them, so it’s really YMMV. Mine picked this one after a lot of trial and error: https://www.doversaddlery.com/ds-indulge-contour-long-girth/p/Z1-02977A/

Depending on your budget you could also buy something nicer that caters to your OTTB’s preferences and keep a cheap straight girth on hand for other horses if they don’t like the fancy one.

What size Prolite are you looking for? I have one I don’t need anymore.

@Libby2563 The one I misplaced was a 52 but I could likely get away with a 50 as well.

I just bought a LeMieux anatomic girth and I love the soft leather. It’s expensive but beautiful. I bought it from Dover with my 10% USEF discount.

Another vote for the shoulder relief girth from Total Saddle Fit.

My gelding is extremely fussy about girths and this is his favorite one. He does have huge shoulders and is a big hunter mover. And a sensitive little flower.

I have the leather, with the fleece lining (I bought several of the fleece linings so I can wash and dry between rides as needed at a 2-week show). Broke in very quickly and has not stretched much after 2.5 years of use.
