Glen Willow---any COTH'ers going?

I am going to spectate with a good friend on Saturday. We are cheering for an acquaintance.

I thought it would be fun to meet other COTH’ers.

I actually will be volunteering on Sunday!

Where is this being held???

Is this the Laurels?

Glen Willow is the reincarnation of the Laurels post the O’Rourkes retirement from that competition.

Same location in Avondale, PA

Wish they would ID where the competition is by state or town but they don’t

I did the commentary for the “Drive by the Side” with a great group. Lots of spectacular tests too! Things look fabulous and well organized. Tomorrow should be very exciting; the hazards look gorgeous!

The competition’s states are listed on the provisional marathon times

I was out there today volunteering. I was one of the starters at Section B (marathon). We started the final competitor as a massive thunder storm came rolling in. We were packing up all the stuff as the lightning started. We got out of there fast so I don’t know if all the competitors still out on the course were able to finish.

It was a great day of driving.

I was out with my horses today and then in the garden later keeping an eye on the sky hoping the weather held out for you! Looking forward to being there tomorrow.

Had a wonderful time out yesterday! Watched a great day of cones competition which was a real treat for me, my first time watching this aspect of the event. People were lovely, food was fantastic, weather could not have been better, my job at the sponsor’s tent offered a great opportunity to meet and socialize with all manner of people. Wonderful day and thrilled to have been a part of it.

I totally missed this thread!
We competed in the Prelim Pair Pony division. We had a great time and just love this show!
We didn’t really know much about the championship class and did not enter it. We were the only one in our class as the other 2 pairs did the championship class which was too bad…
The weather was crazy hot and I’m glad I body clipped my boys before we got there (we’ve been doing this show for many years and know it always seems to be hot at this time of year, but it was especially bad this year!).
We had an overall score of 123, with a decent dressage (not our best, but not our worst either). It was pretty hot on the friday but not nearly as bad as the marathon day! I heard that 6 horses had to retire after section A due to high temps. They shortened section A to 3.6km and gave us extra time (made our times 12km/hr instead of our usual 13km/hr).
We were very happy with our boys and they had great temps of 101F when done (even after Section B, and the vets were very impressed!). We were worried about the heat and did not push them quite as hard as we ususaly might go. They had tons of energy though!
The weather finally broke for sunday and our guys were great but were quite sluggish - unusual for them. The course was great but did not have many canter spots as there were a lot of turn backs. We had one ball down and a few time penalities but had a great time, as usual
We won the Prelim Pair Pony Class, won the overall prelim marathon and finished 3rd overall in the Prelim division.
As soon as we were done our cones, we packed up and left for our 12hr drive home. I had to be up and out the door for work on Monday! And I thought we had a long drive, there was a competitor from Texas and it took her 2 days to arrive. Now thats a long haul!

Everyone did get finished before the thunderstorm came, but the power went out. So of course there was no water for some of the late finishers for cooling down. The organizers scrambled around for a generator to power up the pump to get some water for some of the horses. They were able to fill up some tubs and the power came back on about 2 hours later.

A huge shout out to all those that volunteered for the show! You guys are awesome as usual! We couldnt compete in this fantastic show without you guys. You are the best

Hey, I remember you guys! I was paying particular attention during the pony pairs as I knew one of the other pairs. You did lovely! Your ponies looked so relaxed and happy and professional and you had such a nice turnout. A few people in the tent by the ring remarked how nice a picture you made. A pleasure to watch, well done!

Many people remarked about the course being twisty. I’m lucky to have scored a map of the course (they were in short supply apparently), gives me something to work on at home!
