GMO and Roundup Ready Alfalfa

I have recently changed my feeding program to include baled alfalfa and alfalfa pellets. I get my alfalfa bales at the local feed store, which assures me that it is cold climate grown, so no blister beetles. I buy Standlee alfalfa pellets because of their superb reputation.

My feed store has offered me the option of organic alfalfa pellets. I emailed the company and they say the source alfalfa is cold climate grown. This assuages my concern about blister beetles.

However, the organic option did send me to google to do some research on GMO alfalfa, which as I understand the issue, is a modification to make the alfalfa more tolerant of Roundup. I am not a Roundup user, and try to eat and feed Roundup free.

So where I go with GMO is that the alfalfa is more likely to have higher concentrations of Roundup. No bueno in my worldview.

Anyone have knowledge on this issue? I would love your thoughts, and promise to be a good listener, and to filter good from fake knowledge!

Our hay supplier says very little GMO alfalfa out there. Might be different in your area.
