I’m going to the Mayo Clinic next week. All my specialists want me to go, and we’ve waited for this appointment for almost a year. They called this week and said they had an appointment available so my mom booked my flight that day.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has gone, or heard anything about it.
I’m really nervous, especially since it looks like it will snow while I’m there (weather and I do NOT get along).
Have experience with the Mayo in Rochester, Mn and I have nothing but RAVES about the place. Very kind, compassionate people and doctors and amazingly efficient operation. Extremely knowledgeable specialists because they see patients from all over the world. There is a reason why presidents and heads of state from foreign countries go there. There is a lot of research done there also.
And the doctors are salaried so they’re not driven by $$. Overall, I was very impressed with them and have recommended them many times.
My neurologist is at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, but I waited a month for an appointment.
But aside form my doctor’s secretary, who can’t seem to do much of anything but answer a phone and then not give anyone a message, it’s great. The doctors are top-notch, the hospital is nice, and the staff is friendly (aside from that one secretary). And the bills to my insurance company are about half of what I was charged anywhere else for the same services (MRI, EEG, etc). And the hospital food is tolerable, and it’s all available as room service.

No worries about the snow in Rochester… the hospitals are connected by tunnels or walkways… it was a wonderful experience for me after suffering with back pain and neuropathy… finally a place where they looked at the whole person (in my case, my entire spine)… and the neurosurgeon who handled my case came from a family who raised horses so when my riding was brought up - he was supportive and gave me good guidelines.
The place is wonderful, if you get lost or confused or even if you walk slowly, someone will ask if they can help you… 
There are pianos in the lobbies of many of the hospitals… very inviting for patients, family members or just anyone to sit down and play…

Thorough, patient, and excellent. Good for you for taking care of yourself and doing something that can be very scary. You’ll do great!
My trainer in NY State goes to them for everything (helps that her husband is a pilot for American Airlines so flying is easy for her). She swears by them and thinks they are the best in the country.
It has been a loong time since I worked there (did my internship there) but the best thing was that you really do get individual time there. Double booking appointments and such does not happen there. I was in for such a rude awakening when I go to my first real job and things were not run so ideally!
