gold emblem/badge on British dressage riders' tailcoats?

Does anyone know the s![](gnificance of the gold emblem worn on tailcoats of Charlotte D and Carl H and maybe/probably others?

Before the same argument starts coming up here was when it was asked on facebook… in a picture with IW, the medal is not the same shape nor size as Isabell’s, so I find it unlikely they are both the same German riding medal as we’ve been told. It’s possible, but I think this is more likely a result of the gold medals won by Charlotte and the team in London - since it was after that she started wearing it. I just can’t find anything saying if it represents winning Olympic gold, if it’s a symbol of some British honor, or any other answer.

![]('m hoping some one who actually knows, rather than guesses will respond. I don’t think it is either the German riding medal or a representation of the London Olympic gold, because I found this photo of Fiona Bigwood and Charlotte at Rio. Fiona, who wasn’t on the London team, has BOTH the German medal IW sports, as well as the one Charlotte has. This is driving me batty today!

I think the round medal is the USEF gold medal of distinction.

Nope, that’s for riders that represent the US.

Could they be related to her CBE, or in the case of Carl and Fiona the OBE?

It is the GW Davison award.

This is a old Horse and Hound link from 2008 about the award - https://www.horseandhound.co.uk/prod…n-award-268593
