A skelfie.[URL=“https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cqn4k0SWAAEf3o-.jpg:large”]
I don’t want to even try to figure out what this is supposed to be a thread about …
I think the point may be that an Olympic gold medal and $3.65 + tax will get you a latte grande at Starbucks.
That hard-won gold medal is already gathering dust in the trophy room.
Well, but what does a dump-truck-tractor thing have to do with gold medals? Or Starbucks?
And what is a skelfie, anyway? Some new sort of selfie?

I’m guessing that’s Olympic gold medalist Nick Skelton, back at work on the farm, with or without his medal around his neck.
People in Britain are campaigning to get Nick named as SPOTY, so they started a hashtag campaign #skelfie, which, yes, is a selfie with Nick Skelton.
SO funny. Thanks, Equibrit!

Now that makes sense. Thanks, MHM. Guess I will just guess that SPOTY is Skelton Pony of the Year or something similar.
Looks like an older photo

SPOTY = Sports Personality of The Year.
OK thanks.
or you could have googled SPOTY and found out what it was.
My dreams are dashed. I thought after you won an Olympic medal, all you did was go get on the horse and ride. Horse was thereafter already clean, tacked and ready whenever you wanted to ride, other people rushed to clean your horse’s stall and keep him fed, there was no barn dirt or rain or anything unpleasant any more ever … an Olympic medal meant a whole new plane of existence in cloud fantasy land.
Well drat.
You’d be bored to tears in a week.

I could?!?!? Wow. I’ll have to try that next time.
(I might also have found out it was Spotify Web Player, Spot Satellite Messenger, https://www.facebook.com/FamilyVacationCOM/, or LibrarySpot.com. )
This is also fun: Michael Whitaker, NON gold medallist, being interviewed after having snuck out of the Olympics to watch his son win the European Pony Championships. The conveniently colicky Cassionato is home and safe, by the way.
He says about Nick Skelton matter of factly, “Well, he were determined to win.”

??to Op: Do people really think if you get a medal at the Olympics you will never have to drive a tractor again? Lol
Plus that is a pretty nice tractor and it is fun to drive tractors anyway.
I have no idea why a picture of Nick Skelton driving a tractor is causing drama and arguments.
But I’m very happy for him winning the gold medal, and think it would be great if he was Sports Personality of the Year!
