Good dressage stallions

I’m thinking of breeding my Idocus mare with G Ramiro
Z as a grandfather. This mare is kind of reactive and spooky with a slightly downhill build.

I am trying to think of what stud would give me the best bet at more uphill baby with a calmer temperament than she has.

Any suggestions?

She’s 16’2 with a very large stride but definitely more hunter with less suspension. Here’s a video of her: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fwu_sQUZ-Xw

A longer front leg will help the uphill build. Schroeder can put that on and puts on a super character and trainability. If anything they could use a little zip on the mare side.

From what I can see on the video your mare is quite a nice mover and not what I think of as a flat kneed hunter mover.

She could us a longer leg though. Do you have a conformation picture/ video of your mare? It looks like from the video (which is hard to determine as she is saddled and moving) that her neck/shoulder connection is good.

Both D and R lines in the Hanoverian are know for generally good temperament/ ride ability, but not necessarily length of front leg. You could look at R and/or D line stallions with some S or F, or Tb for the length of leg. For example, Diamo Gold has D-line on the sire sire and Ex Libris on dam line. Rubinero is another stallion with R-line sire and Ex Libris mare line. Sternlicht is another recent US import with his dam side being R-line and sire Soliman de Hus producing some very nice elegant, uphill and refined horses.

She does have a short leg. I can’t seem to post a picture here. It says I’m not allowed to post attachments. I had the breeder of her mother suggest Devon Heir as well.

You might want to take a look at Don Principe (Donnerhall/Prince Thatch xx)as well. He had a super lovely daughter out of an Idocus dam about 4 years ago. The filly was approved Hanoverian and recieved her Elite Eligible from them.
He crosses nicely with the Holsteiner “R” and “C” lines as well. You can see some of his ofspring at the Hilltopfarminc.com site

I agree with Don Principe. A friend of mine has a 4 year old gelding by Don Principe out of an Idocus mare and the word elastic and supple is the first words that come to mind when one see him being ridden.

I am going to suggest the KWPN stallion Uphill. We have crossed him with our KWPN mare Odette N Keur Preferent 3 times, her bloodlines are: Houston x G. Ramiro Z x Marco Polo. I really like Uphill with Ramiro blood.

Our first Uphill is now 3, she made Ster at her Keuring this year, here is Godiva P just 60 days under saddle:

Uphill gives a super mind excellent work ethic and his semen is outstanding as good as fresh we cannot wait to have another one of his foals.

Boleem. You can find more information about him in the Stallion Guide at Select Breeders’ Services website. www.selectbreeders.com

You would need a paid account to do that – but the thing to do is to get an account at a free service (instagram, facebook if settings are right, GooglePlus ditto, etc.) and post links.

Uphill can in breed to a stallion with G Ramiro Z when my mares grandfather is G Ramiro Z? I’ll check Don Principe :-)! I think I need a stud who really stamps his babies so I can get a more uphill baby with a slightly relaxed tenperament.

I can not figure out what you are asking.
You want to linebreed to Ramiro? Uphill has no Ramiro. And he does throw the qualities you suggested.
I would try a stallion like Goodtimes with your mare’s breeding. But I like older style with the power.

I am also not sure what you mean joannr Uphill has no Ramiro blood the mare we bred to him does as does your mare. From what I have seen Uphill crosses very well with Ramiro blood and he gives a super mind his offspring love to work trainers and riders in Holland love his offspring they are talented and easy.

The suggestion of Goodtimes is a good one you should also take a look at him.

Uphill’s oldest offspring in NA are still young, the top KWPN dressage mare in NA this year is a daughter of Uphill.

Here is another one of our Uphill foals the full sibling to Godiva P Ster, Hocus Pocus P was Top Five Dressage Yearling last year:

Forgive me. I misread. I thought uphill has Ramiro but it was your mare
