Good Horse Book: Renegade Champion

I just this morning finished this. Renegade Champion: The Unlikely Rise of Fitzrada. It’s written by the rider’s son and is pretty objective most of the way through, keeping himself detached from the story, but there are a few mother-son tribute moments that touched me. About the horse, it’s a fascinating story and includes some little history bites along the way, which I liked. Horse details seem accurate, which makes sense as no doubt one of his primary sources was his mother’s tales through life and her notebooks. Fitzrada died while he was still a toddler. Lots of training advice incorporated on how to deal with a totally soured/untrusting horse. I enjoyed it.

I got this from Paperbackswap.com, source for most of my books. If you haven’t found PBS yet, check it out. I average 2-3 wishes granted per month, and I’ve gotten everything there from bestsellers to stuff that has been out of print for 80 years.
