Good Horse Transport Services

Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a trailering service that could take a horse across the country (Florida to California). My last experience was not the best as the horse came off the trailer looking like it had just survived World War II. Also if anyone knows of the company brook ledge it looks promising. Thanks for all your help!

My horse just came from NC to CA and they picked him up on the way back from Florida! MJK Quarterhorses is PHENOMENAL. They were always in contact with me, sent photos, even fattened him up for me! Ashley talked to my nervous self for almost an hour the night before they picked my boy up. I can’t recommend them enough.

Oh AND they cost $1500 less than what Brook Ledge quoted me. They are incredible people. Absolutely incredible.

I shipped a TB gelding from a track in AZ to KY using Hubbard. This was my first and only experience with a shipping company. I was very happy with their customer service and the horse arrived in great shape. I know this is opposite of your route, however the truck had started at a track in California and made their way east. I can’t remember the exact hours they allowed horses to be on the trailer, but the horse got off the trailer and into a stall to rest throughout the 3 day trip.

I shipped a horse from KY to CO using Bob Hubbard and had a great experience like RedRyderKy.

Brookledge is who everyone around here uses. I (and my trainer) have had great experiences in that the horses always come off the trailer looking great (Wellington to Lexington, TN to Seattle, TN to Wyoming, TN to NY, and many other trips). However, I’d asked them to take my guy from Wellington to TN and they told me sure, but they had to drop off horses in Lexington first, layover that night, and then bring him down. Ok, no problem. Well, they took him to Lexington and after getting him there, then said they couldn’t bring him down to me. Um, what am I supposed to do now? I scrambled around and was able to find a local shipper who could go pick him up last minute, but I thought that was pretty unprofessional of them to do that to me–either tell me you can do the trip or don’t–don’t halfway do it and then leave my poor horse stranded.

Elite Equine Transport with Jim Welsh. Hands down the best.

I had a similar but worse experience with Brookledge. My horses were MIA for 8 hours. Too big and don’t care about the little guy.

I had an amazing experience with Brook Ledge in November 2016. I recently moved from Columbus, Ohio to Ocala, Florida and had both of my thoroughbreds shipped down shortly after we moved in. I was unable to be there for the pick-up in Ohio since I was already in Florida, so my Ohio trainer handled it for me. My mare apparently was difficult, and the Brook Ledge guys were super patient with her. They stopped overnight in Lexington and then Ocala, I believe, and were delivered to me exactly on time, 1 day sooner than the original quote had said it might take. I’m even on a dirt road now in Florida, and the guy had no problem with it, he brought just my two to me and was as pleasant as can be. The office was very helpful the couple times I had to call in to change minor plan details prior to the trip. They never treated me or my horses as insignificant because we were just two privately owned horses. My horses came in phenomenal condition, albeit tired of course, and their blankets from Ohio were neatly folded in the tote that I had left to come with them.
