Good jumping books?

Hey all! I am looking for a good book on jumping (preferably available in an e-book). I am a re-rider, get lessons a couple of times a month and just got a soloshot2 so I can see myself ride (tried my first video yesterday but during my warm up the calibration went off and I couldn’t be bothered fixing it so no video yet). I find that pretty much all the lessons I get don’t focus much on my position but instead of how my horse is going. One of my new years resolutions this year is to get serious about improving ME! My trainer says my position is fine (I guess I ride better in lessons!) but have pics of a recent show and was not liking it at all.

Any good suggestions for books/videos etc for improving position would be very much appreciated!

Another great book http://www.amazon.com/Hunter-Seat-Equitation-George-Morris/dp/0385413688/ref=pd_sim_b_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=1T14P6CZM56Q2R7Q7FZ2

I second all of the above, especially George Morris

It will be hard to find useful books in e book format because they cater to such a specialized audience. plus, many of the great riding books out there are now completely out of print.

Anna Jane White Mullin ( who was one of the riders whose photos illustrate the George Morris Hunter Seat Equitation book) also wrote a book called Winning, a Training and Showing Guide for Hunter Seat Riders.

These books don’t seem to be available in e formats but are available used, probably get two or three of them including shipping for the cost of one lesson including school horse. And you should.

You can also go retro and look in a library, most will have at least one of these.

Best ones I’ve read…

This one is very graphic, in detail and has a great plan on how to bring a green prospect to his third year of training with a day by day schedule. That’s neat!

I loved this one because it’s not about the basic “how to start riding” but has more tips that come in handy when you are passed the basics, plus all the experience only Steinkraus can convey:

“Form Over Fences” by Jane Marshall Dillon. This book is about the jump. Most of the book is photographs, each photograph is analyzed, with all the riders’ faults pointed out.

I’m afraid it is only available used.

The Pony Club manual is good book for basic position (along with a good basic book for horsemanship). Might be too basic for you though. I think it is a must read for beginner riders if they really want to understand form follows function.
