Good quality surcingle for long lining

I am looking for a good quality lunging surcingle to use for long lining. It needs to fit a small dressage horse and also (hopefully) fit a large pony (for hippotherapy). I am currently borrowing the surcingle linked below. I love all the rings and need one with as many rings so I can long line my mare (all gaits including lateral work and half steps) on higher rings and then use lower rings to long line during therapy sessions. This surcingle is just too big for my mare, placed on the top hole on both sides and she is getting rubs due to girth placement. It is way too big for the even smaller horses and ponies I use for therapy sessions.

Anyone know of surcingles with as many rings but in a smaller size? I would prefer leather and am open to paying a decent amount if needed.

Schneider’s has the victor supreme fits all surcingle. Fantastic quality. I have fit fairly dainty 13.2h-17h critters just with changing the size of the western cinch.

I have have their other leather surcingle. It has a few more rings, but definately is on the larger size. I can’t fit it on some of my finer arabs. Bigger 14.2h propane tanks yes, leaner or younger 3/4years olds sometimes no.

I love the fits-all surcingle. The latigo works so much better than buckles on a traditional surcingle. I use a 24" felt cinch with mine on average sized horses, but it could go up or down a lot without changing cinches. I also like that it has standing rings with a lot of space to run lines through.

OT: I have never heard the term propane tank for the well sprung horse. I might have to steal that. Thanks for the morning laugh!

I have had my eye on this one…https://freedmanharness.com/collections/training-equipment/products/advantage-comfort-training-work-surcingle

This is the one I own. The horse size will go small, but I just had a girth made for it from Fennells Tack in KY.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far. It looks like the Victor supreme rings remain in an “upright” position/like turrets, is this correct? This could work well for when I long line my own horse but unfortunately I get concerned about safety when using with my clients in therapy sessions. I think the other ones listed are similiar as well.

I ended up looking at surcingles on a few German websites and came across the first two. They look like possible good options. The first one just has 2 turrets (assume cannot remove them, I used to have a lovely surcingle that you can screw them in/out), I could easily attached a handle for my clients to use/improve safety. The second one is another option but the rings looks small and not as many as I like. It looks like HKM also make one similiar to the first one, sold in the US (see third link). Has anyone had experience with any of these?

The rings are slightly moveable side to side. They are not fixed.

Sounds like you are looking for a vaulting sucingle instead.

I have a vaulting surcingle that I use in some sessions. I would not think to use this while long lining my mare and if I am long lining clients in sessions typically there are not lower rings (though some do and carabiners added work as well). I don’t know how I feel about placing lines through the handles on the vaulting surcingle for safety reasons and not meant to have that same sort of torque. Ideally, this surcingle would primarily be for long lining and lunging my dressage mare but I was hoping to also find one to use in some of my sessions, but necessarily if I find one that works out really well for just my needs.
