Good websites to find driving horses for sale?

I have a friend who is looking for a horse to do some lower level combined driving, as well as some dressage with. Are there any good sites out there with horses listed that drive as well as ride? TIA

I think a great source is the CD-L list- a lot of people advertise horses, but I think there are also a lot of people who are thinking about selling a horse but haven’t listed it- but if a buyer presented themself- they might have a horse who fits the bill. I’d have your friend post basic info on what they’re looking for on the CD-L.

Another place is the Carriage driving classifieds on Facebook.

I am a big believer in BUYERS advertising to the market- rather than just silently looking for what has been offered. I think that there are a lot of people who have great horses they might sell but who are torn about actually putting them out into the marketplace.

Not sure that I know what this is. Can you be more specific?

I already joined the Carriage Driving Classifieds on Facebook (thanks for pointing them out!), and put the word out with another friend who is in our local driving club.

Thanks again for the help!

The CD-L is an internet list… Carriage Driving List.

Thanks so much!

Carriage Driving Classifieds on Facebook is another good place.

And of course, Craigslist! There are horses on there from time to time trained to drive. I love CL, and definitely is the first place I look whenever I need something.

Thanks, Chewie! I think you’re in my area (NW Chicago) and my friend is in Springfield, so if you hear about anything in this area, feel free to PM me! She’s looking for something 15.3+, sane and sound, under 12 years.

There’s also the Ams, I came across a fellow around Goshen, IN who has darn near everything, from a field of ponies in the (way) back 40, to road horses, to a perfectly matched pair of large ponies that had shown extensively in Michigan. His name escapes me right, now, PM me if you want me to think harder. I think he had about 70-80 head, so odds are good that he might have something that is close to what she’s looking for.

Ok! Virtual shopping for your friend will commence, lol. PM’s to be sent
