I am going to suggest the Irideon Hampton Breech. I got a pair to try to see if we should carry them and OMG, I am in love. They are more of a mid rise than low and they look lovely on. They also seem to be a bit stain resistant and have my favorite thing, a sock bottom!
I’m short and square and my favorite brand is Grand Prix, which fit me perfectly.
But my friend’s daughter is very tall and skinny (almost 6’0 and built like a model) and loves the Horze brand breeches. She said they are the only ones long enough to fit her.
I LOVE my Tailored Sportsman Trophy hunters. That said, my top 3 other brands are:
- Mastermind – picked up a pair at a consignment store (major score!) and I LOVE these pants. The fit, the fabric (won’t stain!), the little jewels…swoon!
- Ariat Olympias – excellent fit, flattering look, durable fabric. Love them.
- Pikeur Ciaras - Lovely fit, love the fabric, hate the lack of durability…the knees always stretch out
Always depends on your build - I have long legs too and ride in the Trophy Hunters low rise. I do like them but the Velcro is still a bit higher than what I would like.
Some of my favorites are -
Anamo breeches. No velcro bottoms

They are pricey so trying them on would be good.
I also like Pikurs and Cavalleria Toscana breeches. They don’t have velcro so they are more comfortable there.

I don’t care for the SmartPak Pipers. I bought several pairs and the colors are really nice but the fabric started snagging. They fit tight like uncomfortable nylons. I feel this way in Equine Couture breeches too.
Maybe this wouldn’t fly in the hunter ring (well, I don’t think the judge cares, but you guys do!) but I LOVE my TuffRider Sierra breeches. TS never fit me, either, so I always used Ariats. I started buying Sierras to use as every day breeches when I got sick of my Ariats falling apart and getting all pouchy in the butt. And then I liked them so much I bought a few in tan and light grey (which is really just a very, very light grey-ish tan) to show in.
On Classic day at the shows (I do the jumpers) I wear my Pikeur Ciaras, but every other day before the Classic I’m in my flattering, cheap TuffRiders. I love them. I haven’t tried any of their other models because the fabric is different from the Sierras, which is a cotton/microfiber blend, like my favorite Schoeller fabric, and wears like iron.
I have long, muscled rider’s thighs, but not much of a butt or hips, and I have a short torso. However, I gave a friend some Sierras that were in a long size- she has a super-long torso and they fit her great. The Sierras have the Euroseat, which I like, and the sock bottoms.

I’ve been super intrigued by the Romfhs recently. I know a couple ladies with my body type (shorter waist, longer leg, muscular thighs and butt) who own them and they look fabulous on. The Champion Euro Seat is advertised as having a “curve fit” that nips in at the waist but leaves some extra room in the hips and thigh, plus comes in some cute colors, has a sock bottom, and they’re only $110.
Dang, now I want a new pair of breeches!!! [she says wistfully, fully ignoring the fact that she’s literally wearing fresh-out-of-the-box Trophy Hunters RIGHT NOW]
With the TS trophy hunters, is it better to go with the tan or green beige?

Unless I’m crazy, I don’t think that green-beige (aka old skool “puke” green) is a thing any more. As far as I’m aware, the Trophies only come in tan.
ETA:
I stand corrected - just looked at SmartPak’s offerings. I always get the mid rise, in which there is no green beige option. I see that there is one in the low rise - not quite the old color but seems a little different than the tan.
I think you’re safe with either. I, obviously, have been getting the tan!

I can spill someone on them and it won’t stick, or lightly wipe away with a damp cloth, and the stain is gone in a few minutes.[/QUOTE]
Now that’s a glowing recommendation! Seriously, though, DD now wears these breeches & they are fabulous.
541 hunter - I just got my self the ROMFH Lexingtons and they are very flattering. I’m built exactly as you describe, too. I tried on every style of breeches I could adn they were the hands down favorite.

Tan. I have not seen green beige breeches in years.
tan.
Does anyone have experience with Annie’s competition breeches? http://anniesusa.com/product/boring-beige/
The rise on the Tredstep I’d say are about mid-lowrise, depends on your body type. They aren’t like Animo’s or anything though!

I don’t know about that model, but I have the fullseat model of the Lexingtons, and I’m definitely going to be picking up a pair of the regular kneepatch ones. I LOVE them, maybe my favorite breeches I have right now. Lots of give to the fabric, but still supportive, no weird bulgey lines, and they seem to be wearing well. After this thread, I’m thinking the Romfhs and the Treadsteap Rosas are going to be the purchases for showing next year.
The TS Trophy Hunters are probably the best fitting breeches I have ever come across besides Pikeurs. They are both tied at number one for me.
The TS trophy hunters are the best fitting breeches on me. I wear the side zip low rise. I love the new fabric (wears way better than the old cotton), the lack of inside seam and the length. They are the only breeches that don’t hit my ankle bone which I hate in boots.
Second for me are the Cavaleria Toscana ones. The fabric feels like yoga pant material and the fit is nice. I like the sticky knee patches.
Third are Eurostar. They do a lot of knee patch breeches, not just full seat and the fit is nice through the thigh and waist. They have a lot of different styles and fabrics. The dynamic grip or something is the one I prefer.
Pikeurs don’t seem to fit me that well.
I am short with small waist and ‘muscular’ thighs. I have a 10" difference between my real (belly button) waist and my hip.
I’m a huge fan of my Pikeurs and Romfhs, in a knee patch, not full seat. Both have the updated fabric similar to TH’s, with the Pikeurs being slightly more light and comfortable.
Updated to add: I purchased both the TS Trophy Hunters and Ariat Olympias (last in my size!) to try. Ugh they both fit haha! Now which ones to return…
I would return the ariats - the TS come in a million colors and you can continue your new addition with abandon. Also…no need to dry clean. Attach the Velcro together so they don’t ruin everything else and wash in the machine cold air dry
I have found Ariat breeches to stretch badly, quickly.
