Google Ads issue??

Hi,

I am using Internet Explorer 9, and have an issue only on the Chronicle forums – when I try to go back a page by using the “back arrow” at the top left corner of I.E., nothing appears to happen – as in, I don’t get returned to the previous page.
When I right-click on that arrow, I have discovered that repeated entries for “https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pag” have populated the list of previous “pages”.

I presume that the ads on the Chronicle forum pages are causing this.

It’s really, really annoying!!

Been happening to me also. Can’t use the back button right now.

Yes. The only way to go back is to right click on the Back button and skip the umpteen Googleads to select a Chronicle entry

I also had this problem with IE. No issues like this with Firefox, though.

I have the same problem.

For a workaround, I get the window “history”, and then go directly to the first one that is not google ads.

So you do not have to separately go “back” through 4 or 5 steps.

But it is still a major annoyance.

Has anyone experiencing this problem attempted clearing their cache to see if that had any affect?

What browsers/versions are folks using who are having the problem?

I just tried clearing the cache & refreshed the page – nope, still the same problem. I have I.E. 9

Same problem here with IE8, but not FF12. Also cleared & refreshed.

Still having this issue with IE 9.0.8112.16421.

Not having the same problem with the home computer, so will check which IE version that is and report back.

I have been experiencing the problem from time to time here at work with IE7, but not at home with IE9.

I do have a similar problem with ads on ebay populating the browsing history at home (like 40 lines). My computer expert has been unable to solve it with considerable effort.

Have you all checked your computers for Malware? I was recently having some issues with Google search and the return button. When I clicked on a google search result, it took me to some other search page and then wouldn’t let me return. I ran several Malware programs, and eventually Malware Bytes updated their definitions to what I needed and that took it off. I also downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials too. Both are free Malware detection programs.

My home computer is scanned regularly for Malware. And the work computer internet is about as ironclad as you can get.

Anyway, CoTH is doing this with a vengance today (as is my home computer while on Ebay according to my frustrated husband)

https://googleads.g.doublelick.net/pag (then it cuts off and I suspect there is more, but can’t find anyway to figure out what the rest of the gobbledegook is)

This doesn’t happen on days when the work computer blocks the header and margin ads. Which doesn’t happen as often as it used to.
