first time I have ever seen this response when attempting to “like” a post …got “Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page”
Really wasn’t trying the view the page as it was already before me, just attempted to like the post

I’ve had that happen more than once. I either reload the page or leave and then come back and it works. I have no idea what the problem is, I always figured it was either me or my computer!
I’d say Internet gremlins, so refresh the page as Garythesquirrel suggests, or possibly the author of the post deleted it between the time you opened the page and went to like it?
Please let us know if this becomes a persistent issue.
Thanks!
Mod 1
I believe I’d had that happen when trying to like a post made by a banned user.
thanks, was able to “like” the post a few minutes ago without comment from the software
thread was in Around the Farm " Would you shorten your arena?" it was post #11
Same here - just happened a few minutes ago. I thought my account had gotten hacked or something at first!
In my notifications:
[Username] and -1 others have posted on your subscription: Instant Pot - I love mine, what are you making in yours?
So I click the link and I see this message (url copied for what the link I clicked on changed to):
https://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/node/10039813
Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page.

I was able to get into the topic just fine by going to off topic and finding the subject. Just in case it is needed the URL to the topic is: https://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/f…aking-in-yours
Topic is not by a banned user, deleted, or anything like that. BUUT I don’t see any new responses from earlier this morning so maybe there was a spam post that got flagged and deleted?
I explained this particular behavior at length here:

Ok… this just happened, this topic was at the top of the help list first and foremost so I replied. Looks like the topic title for what you linked to needs to be changed since it is so vague. Thanks though.
Yup, we’ve actually discussed what you’re seeing several times. clanter is reporting something different–the “you can’t access” triggered by a like. Weirder. Not surprising that a link to a deleted post generates an error, but a like shouldn’t direct to anywhere. Maybe just a bizarre one off due to internet gremlins or a connection problem or a server hiccup.
But what you’re describing? 100% repeatable when the post has been deleted. No surprise you can’t see it when it’s not there to see
This happens to me even if someone deletes a post off the thread but the original post remains. I get a notification of a new post to the thread but can’t click the link to go there. Drives me INSANE
@rockonxox I followed your link, and sure enough, someone had deleted their own post on that thread, so that’s at least one mystery solved!
but why does it say I am UNAUTHORIZED???
Because the post no longer exists. You are not authorized to view something that no longer exists. Presumably, moderators or other board administrators are permitted to view deleted posts. You are neither a moderator nor other type of board administrator, so you are not authorized to view a deleted post.
I explained this particular behavior at length here:
I got it after each picture I posted but I just ignored it and kept posting, they did show up.
I get notifications saying there is a new post. I did read what you wrote. But saying I am unauthorized? Really? I don’t see that at all.
The new post that generated the notification has been deleted. You get an error because the new post is no longer there for you to view. You are not permitted to view a deleted post. You are not AUTHORIZED to view a deleted post.
I guess I will copy what I wrote on the other thread. Here, I’ll even highlight the exact parts that are pertinent to your question.
Notifications say:
1 user liked your post at <thread>
<username> quoted your post at <thread>
<username> mentioned you in <thread>
<username> made a post on your subscription <thread>
Have I forgotten any?
In those last three, the notification link goes to the new post. The link does not go to the top post in the thread. If the post that generated the notification is gone, you get the error screen.
The only notification that’s generated that directs to YOUR post is the like one. Perhaps if the user unlikes your post after the notification is generated, the link breaks. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten the error screen for a like notification. In every other instance, the post (a post quoting you, or a post mentioning you, or a new post in a subscribed thread) has poofed so the link in the notification has nothing to direct to.
Unless you’re talking about a like notification, it doesn’t matter if YOUR post is there or not. The notification has nothing to do with your post. It’s telling you something else about a new post on the thread.
Make sense?
No. I am sure the fault is mine. But it makes no sense.
I don’t think I have ever gotten a like notification. What I am saying, is that I am told I am not AUTHORIZED to see the post. what in the wide world of sports does that mean?
here is the quote
Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page.
Please try logging in or logging in as different user Login or send a message to the admin
What are you clicking on that takes you to that “you are not authorized” page?
A notification, right? A notification that says there’s a new post on a thread you’re following. Or a notification that someone has quoted you. Or a notification that someone has mentioned you, like this @Larksmom
If the post that generated that notification IS DELETED–like if I were to delete this post–it no longer exists in a place you are authorized to view. It’s gone. The link in your notification inbox still directs to the POST. The post that’s gone. The post you are not authorized to see.
Because you have a link to a deleted post, a link to a post that you are not authorized to see because it’s been deleted, you get an error page that says “you are not authorized to see this.” Because, tada, the post has been deleted and you are not authorized to see deleted posts.
You are not doing anything wrong. Just ignore it. Say to yourself “oh the post that caused this notification to appear had been deleted. Thanks mod1 for deleting that spam!” because there’s a good chance that’s what was deleted.
To recap. You are not authorized to view deleted messages because you are not a moderator or other admin. If you get the “you are not authorized” page, you’ve followed a link to a deleted message. Ignore it and move on.
