Got missed a bit in the Oaks/Derby news - help for Vinnie Bednar by top Derby jocks

Vinnie Bednar was seriously injured August 22 at Los Al when his mount Peek It Up broke down 100 yards from the finish in the 300 yard race. Vinnie rides both QH and TB.

He is experiencing temporary lower-limb paralysis following initial surgery. He is awaiting transfer to Craig Hospital in Englewood CO, a world-renowned center for spinal and brain injury.

Hall of Fame jockeys Javier Castellano, Mike Smith, John Velazquez, and the sport’s rising stars Manny Franco and Tyler Gaffalione have joined in solidarity to pledge a percentage of their earnings from the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby race cards to help rider Vinnie Bednar with continued expenses

Castellano rode Money Moves, Franco rode Tiz the Law, Gaffalione was aboard South Bend, Smith on Honor A.P. and Velasquez was on Authentic.

Love these guys willing to help support a fellow rider acknowledging that what happened to Vinnie could have happened to any one of them.
