I am looking at weanlings and have registration questions. I emailed on the webpage to ask but have not gotten a response back. What does it mean if a stallion is not listed in the Studbook for that year - is a foal by him still registerable if the stallion was in previous years? And, can a foal be a premium foal (at inspection) if out of a registered TB mare, but you do not have the hard copy papers for that mare? If not, are they registered as a GOV foal, just not as a Premium (whatever that really means)? Thank you for any assistance!
Do you know if the registered TB mare was been inspected for GOV marebook placing? If she hasn’t, no, the foal wouldn’t be a premium and wouldn’t be fully registered. As far as the stallion goes, is he approved into other major registries? Has he been fully approved GOV? I know other registries, ie AHS, will allow the breeder to pay a fee for a foal registration if the stallion’s annual registry fee hasn’t been paid. However, the stallion must be in good graces in every other way. GOV will allow a breeder to pay a foreign stallion fee for stallions not approved in their registry, but is approved in other registries that are major European registries. Maybe your stallion meets that requirement?
Clint, yes the mare was inspected, but no one seems to be able to find her papers. I don’t know about the stallion. He was listed in an older GOV studbook as approved, from 2013, but was not listed on their webpage list for 2019. Thank you for the help.
