GPA Textium?

So is this helmet being discontinued? I have one right now, and love it, but I think it’s at least 6 years old. I found them on the Amira website, for $357 shipped, but do I need to worry about the date of manufacture on them?

I’d love a Speed Air, but can’t cough up the additional $125 for the black/black, which is the only one I would consider…

Any thoughts?

I think both of the original GPA helmets, Textium and Titium, have been discontinued and replaced with the textium Professional and titium Professional, because apparently if you add the word “Professional” to anything related to horse back riding, you can also add on at least another $50…?

I would think the fit is still similar, but, I haven’t tried either of them. My old helmet was a Titium, and I got a Charles Owen GR8 to replace it. My head is a “long oval” shape and the CO fit pretty well.

I have a very lightly used Textium that I was considering selling. If interested, PM me and I can give you details.

Actually the fit is NOT similar. At least for me anyway. The pro line is much more oval and did not fit me in the least. I know the original textium is being discontinued but I’m not sure about the titium.

I used to have the Textium and loved it. It was the only helmet for a long time that I could find to fit my circular head. I now have an IRH Elite that fits me wonderfully (The one with the nylon harness…NOT the Elite Extreme which did not come even close to fitting although I preferred its leather harness). I like the way they look on although not as much as the speedaire but it was only $145. Much easier on the wallet!

My Textium does not fit me at all. I bought it when the GPAs first came out and then I bought a CO GR8 that fits much better. I dont know how the other GPAs fit but I love the way they look. But they are very expensive!

It is solid but it is dirty. These are suppose to clean up nicely.

My beloved GPA Titium was in need of replacement because of age. I was pretty disappointed in the fit of the GPA speed air on my round head (the only GPA’s on the shelf where I was shopping). I was also pretty disappointed the tack shop tried to sell me a speed air manufactured in 2009 (this should not be allowed!) I ended up going with a Samshield and I love the fit and look!

I had a Textium and LOVED it. Eventually I gave in (after 7 years) and bought a Titium. You’re supposed to replace your helmet after 5 years…

I love my Titium, but it’s not the same fit as my Textium. Just checked the date on it a few weeks ago and it’s past the 5 year point so I should probably get a new helmet soon!

I have a round head so the CO and Samshields don’t fit and I thought GPA’s would be the only helmet for me. BUT I tried a One K the other day and it fit! So I will probably be headed in that direction for my next helmet purchase.

If you contact Amira they will tell you the date of manufacture on the helmet, but you will also receive a spiel about how helmets do not need to be replaced every 5 years.
