GPS Recommendations?

Any input on stand alone GPS. I’m going to “the big city” (including Costco) for the next 2 days and would like to buy one to track hunts etc, not really for getting traveling directions.

I tried doing a COTH forum search and could not come up with anything, though I’m sure it’s out there.

Thank you

I have a Garmin 60CSx. It is not the smallest unit available but it works in the woods, does not use up the batteries quickly and has many fun extra features.

Some folks are reporting good sucess with tracking programs that interface on their cell phones. I haven’t tried one myself but it might be worth looking into.

You’ll need to give your budget before we can give you recommendations.

I bought the Garmin etrex H for doing the hunt tracks, etc. and it has worked great. I use the EasyGPS software, that you can download free, to pull the information off the unit. Once I have my file created I import it into Google Earth. It makes a nice map over the satellite image.

If you go to http://www.rappahannockhunt.com and look at the blog you can see what we’ve done with it. I am amazed at how many people really like reading the reports with the imagery and stats. People that hunt then go home to look up the images to see where they have been.
