Gray Hunt Coats

I have a medium gray Grand Prix that I wear with either blue or white shirts. I’ve shown both rated and local shows in it. I have a chestnut roan with four white socks and I think we look pretty darn good. I see more navy, medium blue and black (which I don’t care for, especially on chestnuts) now, but gray, especially medium or dark gray, jackets are still in vogue way up here in the far left corner of the US.

I have a light grey/blue GP that I wear on my flashy chestnut. I tend to wear it on regular division days, and only if we are rocking it, as it does make me stand out a bit!

I usually wear it with a white shirt or a very light blue or pink shirt to match the plaid.

OP, I have two grey coats. A light grey and a dark grey. I rarely go to rated shows anymore (being a grown up really sucks) but I went to one this summer. I showed for 4 days so I wore each for two days (in the heat…I wanted them to have time to air out before wearing them again) and I like that I stand out with them (except when my horse decides that he doesn’t do downward transitions in an undersaddle…there isn’t a color dark enough to hide me in then!)

I had the dark grey when I showed my chestnut and I think both shades look great on my bright bay. I also love the different color combos you can make w/ your show shirts. I have a peach shirt that goes so great w/ the light grey. It’s probably my favorite combination.

Oh I found one w/ the dark grey on a dark bay!

Who cares if it’s out of style? If you like it, wear it  Judges aren’t going to mark you down for it so long as it’s conservative. Screw what everyone else thinks.

I have a nice charcoal grey coat with a blue stripe in it that I love… I’ve shown in it in bronze & gold rated shows (and, gasp, with a light blue show shirt!) and it really hasn’t looked out of place. Navy is definitely more popular, grey is still pretty acceptable.

Here it looks more blue-y thanks to the lighting:

And here it looks pretty much charcoal-y:

It doesn’t hurt that my mare happens to be perfect.

So not to hijack the thread…but speaking of Grey Hunt Coats…

Does anyone know of a technical fabric hunt coat that comes in grey? I really love grey coats, but already have one nice wool coat and would rather have a nice technical fabric hunt coat for when its hotter.
Grand Prix makes a solid darker grey:

isn’t this BB board open to anyone who wants to join? Isn’t this a forum in which equestrian enthusiasts can come to learn and exchange ideas?
Oh goodness, I hope this isn’t in response to what I said! I’m genuinely curious about the influx of new people, I didn’t mean to imply snarkiness or suspicion about them!

OP, you could be the one to bring the grey coat back in style ;). Just look at what’s happened with green coats over the past year.
