Any tips for cleaning the grease specifically but also dead skin out of a mane during the middle of a New England winter? Our temp highs are 15 - 30 F currently, if it matters i have access to hot water.
“Hot toweling” is your friend for this kind of things in the “frozen tundra”… Take a steaming hot cloth and use it to wipe the mane in small sections. The heat and moisture will help clean the mane without soaking it. For extra cleaning power, you can add a bit of spot remover to the hot water mixture.
With my minis I brush out as much dander and I can with a stiff brush, then vacuum along the base of their mane which they enjoy. After that I do the hot toweling like Kirikou posted about followed by spraying with Miracle Groom. It’s not perfect but gets quite a bit of crud out. Gently blow dry if tolerated.
