Great racing mares of the past . . .

. . . that today’s top racing mares and fillies remind us of. Lady Eli was said to be ruthless in Flower Bowl victory. Terms like that were used back in 60’s and 70’s.

I loved to watch Ruffian, Genuine Risk and Winning Colors. I love the fillies.

I never got to see Landaluce before her death. Murray Silver, who owned some race horses, told me that D. wayne Lucas was training a great little filly who would be a star. Sadly she did not live long enough.

I watched the race on tv yesterday and Lady Eli looked good. Time will tell if she has recovered and is back to top form.

Ack, one of the fillies broke down and was Euth-ed in a race on TV today. I was wondering why she was moving her tail like she was out of the starting gate, so she was breaking down as she left the gate.
