Great Smoky Mountains--Cherokee Nat'l Forest

I have an incredible opportunity at the end of the month to spend 4 glorious days with my horse trail riding at Meadow Creek Mountain Rustic Resort in eastern Tennessee.

My question is whether I should shoe my barefoot horse, who is normally very tough-footed, or buy BOA boots/Old Macs, or both?

Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds awesome! I have never been riding there but grew up on the other side of that mountain in the Asheville, NC area. Went to school at WCU which is as close to TN as you can get while in NC. I am making assumption but the footing is going to be rocky, rocky and rocky. My pony is barefoot and I have ridden him all around NC/SC (other mountain chains) but my vet and farrier both OOOHHHH and AAAHHH over his hooves. Husband horse has to be shod all the way around. I would venture shoes, that way you can enjoy the entire 4 days for sure. Let me know how it was…might need to add it to my list!

Good luck! And you are very lucky. Maybe you could buy both books and see which ones you like better, then resell the ones you dislike? (If you have that money.)

I must be really slow…I read “books” three times and couldn’t translate it to “boots.”
