GreenGuard HayPlay Bags for Shod Horses

Curious if anyone has tried these with shod horses yet and is willing to post a review.

They say they are safe for shod horses but am looking for any real world experiences.

Also, thoughts on how much they slow down your horses? I use the Hay Chix smallest hole nets with her as she is an absolute hoover so am a bit skeptical that these are comparable. I’ve stopped using my Savvy Feeder with her because the holes are simply too big.

Personally, no way in heck would I put something like that on the ground with a shod horse. I tried something similar (against my better judgement), and first thing my horse did was paw it and get hung up on it. Thankfully it ripped and she was disengaged quickly but it could have been bad.

This isn’t something I wouldn’t use for any horse, let alone a shod one. Those holes are big enough for most horses to get a foot through and get hung up. I let a former barn owner talk me into using my Health E-Z Hay feeder on the ground, not 60 seconds later, her sh*tstorm of a filly put her foot through it, broke it and almost broke her neck in the process.

I’ve stuck with the Hay Chix half bale net, removed when empty and hung at chest level. If you don’t want to use your net anymore, I would see if you can get something designed to sit on the ground like a HayGain Forager.
