Going to remove mud low area in front of run in, choose a grid system for bluestone footing, want to know what grid type systems you have utlized and recommend. this is in my sacrifice area and I hope to use a system I can come out say anywhere from 12 to 20 ft. and there blend in existing grade of sandy soil to 'match up. Don’t have the money for the full continuing in grid and stone and don’t have issues with the ground further out. please tell what system worked for you and if I can tie in like this! contractor ready to go when I find the product! too many new ones out there now so would love to know whats worked for you. thanks!
In the “this mud is so defeating” thread just below there is a good discussion and links to product!
I used NDS Tufftrack in my stalls, I have had it for 8 years now, and it is showing some wear that being said a clydesdale horse with borium can paw through cement. When I put it in there were so many options, all claiming to be specifically for horses, but the price was half of what most of the other offerings were, and they all had to be shipped, the NDS I purchased at a local irrigation supply store.
I have not read the thread mentioned above and I have not look recently but unless something has changed dramatically I am probably going to use the same product and redo my stalls next year.
no matter what you do I would either frame it in with wood or cement to protect the edges, once the edges start to go it is just a matter of time as the horses walk on it that it will break down. Also don’t forget to leave a gap of like a half inch for expansion during warming and cooling
I’ve put in hours of research so far and after meeting with the local farm services co-op, I’m planning on putting in a product that is distributed by AgTec. It’s well used and seems to last in my area under heavy use.
It’s their grass/gravel grid system. It’s more cost effective than the Lighthoof systems.
luvmyhackney–I see a number of grids on their website. Which one are you using? I’ve been looking at light hoof…
