Grounding a horse trailer?

I am attending a horse show this weekend at a new (to me) location. The prize list says to make sure your trailer is grounded. I didn’t understand why, but I was talking to a client, and apparently parking under high voltage wires can cause the trailer to pick up a current and shock the horse (or person), so I assume this place must have high voltage wires in the trailer parking area.

How does one further ground a trailer so that this isn’t an issue?

Are you connecting your rig to shore power ? If so, then your rig should be grounded through the camp site’s electrical system.

No, just a horse trailer. Not a living quarters. It’s just a horse show: not a camp ground. Not plugging into anything. They do not offer camping.

Drive a metal rod into the ground near the trailer. Use one of your battery jumper cables to connect it to bare metal on your trailer frame. Some precautions… don’t drive it so deep you can’t get it out… make sure no person or horse steps on it.

That said I don’t see any need to ground your trailer. I’ve parked my rig near some very high tension power lines without issue… (lines that crackle )
