Oof. Maybe he didn’t zoom in? But also, not really surprising. A lot of farriers don’t really get overly concerned about NPA issues until the horse is lame lame. Hopefully he’s open to making changes even if he doesn’t “see” the problem.

Not that it helps, but I have a pony who appears to have similar front leg conformation where the foot sits well out in front of the leg - the entire foot wants to run forward all the time, and it’s a constant battle.

I’m already rasping the toe down and back once a week, carefully.

I’ve joined a bunch of Facebook pages but take most with a grain of salt. Too many people thinking it’s a-ok to trim a horse outright sore and keep them in cloud boots. Ahh, no, doesn’t work for me! I’d rather go slow and steady.

Yes, the less things are allowed to distort the better.

All I can say about hoof care FB groups is that everyone is very passionate about their method’s righteousness :joy: it’s an easy rabbit hole to fall down especially if you don’t know which way is up (on a hoof) to begin with.

I did like the FB group Pete Ramey had, back when he was actually part of it, but it’s got a different vibe to it now that he no longer participates. Still lots of good info to be had, just more bickering and armchairs to wade through now.

Obstacle course! Her least favorite was the tarp thingy. She did them all, and I was the only one there!

Some more “train yourself” desensitizing. The Old Man is such a good role model, not giving a rats behind about the feather flags. Grundy will eventually learn that anything weird is just me messing with her…

I saw this and thought about you and grundy

I actually have that blow up costume… I’ll need a second set of hands to deploy this particular desensitizing though lol

It was super duper muddy, so no riding but… She was being super about ground driving in the pen today, so I said " let’s try it in the pasture." She hadn’t been in the pasture since mid winter, so it was pretty fresh territory.

She was FANTASTIC. We went up and down the dirt piles, went by the scary railroad ties, the scary fence post pile, and she was PERFECT.

She spooked a couple of times, in place! Not even a hint of a bolt! Yes! Good girl!

I’m over the moon with her. so many snacks and snuggles were had.
