H/J barn recs near University of Kentucky

Hey! I am considering going to UK Law this fall (2022) and was looking for some recommendations for lesson barns in the Lexington area!

I’m hoping more for help with the vibes, ya know? I’m an adult ammy on a college kid budget. I’m not bringing my horse. I’m just looking for a place where I can take a lesson a week to stay in shape and have fun.
What’s important to me is good lesson horses (I’d like to jump still, even w/out my own horse), good people, and an environment that won’t look down on me for not showing etc. Bonus points if it’s got some fellow young adults and isn’t all kids.

Thanks!

I loved my time at Ballyhigh with Joyce Brinsfield. She’s actually got the UK equestrian team training with her. Lots of adult ammies around. She does adult ammy summer camps (or did back when I rode with her). Hosts her own local KHJA and schooling shows at the farm.

Would highly recommend checking out.

Liftoff Equestrian in Versailles. They do everything from local shows to A circuit stuff, but don’t live on the circuit. Lovely, laid back atmosphere with fun, friendly people. A nice mix of college students (on a budget!), young professionals, and some older ammies. Some show, some don’t. Makes no difference either way, everyone is just there to enjoy the horses. Kids too, but the lesson barn has its own wing which is nice. They have a decent school string that jump, and also work with CANTER Kentucky if you’re looking to help with OTTB retraining for fun. Also have the option for sourcing leases/half leases if you decide you want to do that as well, but leasing isn’t required. They’ll also do local non-showing trips like hacking at Masterson, hunter paces, etc for variety. Cannot recommmend them enough!!
