Has anyone had luck feeding just HA for ulcers ?? I was looking at various joint supplements and was reading reviews where someone wrote that this Joint Supplement by Animed called Effortless HA which contains 300mg HA/ounce and Yucca healed their horses ulcers and made them dramatically night and day better ?? I’ve had my eye on Alimend , as well as Reylne GI and GUT X (all of those contain HA )for one of mine whose cribbing seems to have increased since we had to pull him off pasture a few months ago after a little bout with laminitis…I wanted to try one of these to see if it makes a difference- obviously a lot more money for the “ulcer” labeled supplents Vs the HA joint supplement.
Never heard of it being used for ulcers BUT within 30-60 minutes
of me taking a TBspoon, there is
pain relief for ortho or muscle
aches and pains.
Right now I’m using my horse’s
Lubrisyn HA and my dog gets it also for hip problems.
Some seem to find good results with HA for ulcers (using one of the products mentioned), it seems mamy times more haven’t, so as with many things - it depends!
Is it safe to use something labeled for animals? Even though I know many meds/ ingredients are the same.
Who knows?? I’ve been ‘sharing’
several different brands of equine HA w/ my horses for 15-20 yrs and I’m still here.
100x people even gave me the human and dog dose before they
had the products marked human and canine, so I’d bet that they’re the same stuff.
Well I guess in your case it is safe
I’ve used it too. It tastes good.
if the horse has active ulcers they deserve actual treaments for the ulcers.
If you"ve ever had an ulcer you would understand how painful they are and treat them.
based on…??
.
Do you know what the most expensive medication on the market is?
The one that does not actually treat the problem.
It wastes time, pain, suffering,… oh and money. And you’re left with an amial still needing treatment and perhaps a harder to treat situation.
Yes, I know if their are active ulcers, then treatment is what’s best… This horse has had treatment with gastroguard and Sucralfate previously, and has been maintained for years now on Purina outlast… Like I stated above, this HORSES cribbing increased when he was pulled off pasture a few months ago, due to a laminitis flareup… I was just curious if any of those H a gastric or joint supplements seem to help
Lubrisyn is a different form of HA than the HA in ulcer supplements, but with that being said, Alimend is magical
I’ve had my horse on it for about two years after having him on U-gard pellets and the difference after he’d been on Alimend for a few weeks was very noticeable. 10/10 would recommend, it’s absolutely worth the money.
your op mentioned ulcers, not ulcer prevention nor previous treatment
All I was asking was has anyone had any luck with HA products for ulcers
Ask two different horse people about something and you’ll get three opinions.
I’ve also been considering putting one of my mares on Relyne or GutX after she just came off of ulcer treatment. My vet initially recommended Relyne, ProtekGI, or the SmartPak pellets at her initial scoping and at her rescope she recommended ProtekGI or the SmartPak pellets. The ProtekGI is crazy expensive so we’re trying the SmartPak pellets. She also said that Relyne is changing their forrmulation and should be less expensive later in the year-- but I don’t know what’s changing about the formulation.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Lubrisyn would help with gut issues. The molecular weight is very high (I think it’s slightly higher than MHB3 HA that’s in Alimend and Relyne). I’ve been giving Lubrisyn to one of my cats for a joint supplement. He’s had gut issues for many years but after a month I noticed that he doesn’t get sick/diarrhea nearly as much. It’s a rare occurrence now. The only thing I can think of is the Lubrisyn.
Wow ! That’s great !! I’m going to try the Animed Effortless HA first since it’s fairy inexpensive as compared to Alimend and Reylene …I might go Lubrisyn if I see no difference with the one I’m about to try !
Animed Effortless HA eh? I’m not familiar with that product.
They haven’t done any formal studies on Lubrisyn for ulcers or gut health but so far my cat is doing much better since starting the Lubrisyn back in September.
I don’t see how it wouldn’t work similar to the other HA products with MHB3 HA. I’m hoping someone more knowledgeable could let me know.
