Hackamore fitting on english bridle

bought a hackamore for my english bridle and i think i have it on there correctly but i don’t think it’s fitting my mare right. we have worn/used one before. my bridle is on the highest cheek piece “setting” and yet it still looks like the hackamore is too low… any idea what’s going on? the curb chain is also SUPER tight under her muzzle … confused Uploading: 3A59F1C5-F0B0-4896-B9CD-362BF517CAC4.jpeg… Uploading: 58CD962B-0F0E-478D-802E-36788D50DAC7.jpeg…

You might need shorter cheek pieces or a smaller bridle. Loosen the buckle over the nose to ease up on the curb, or swap with a longer curb chain/strap.

I’ve almost always needed to punch extra holes to make cheek pieces short enough for hackamores. Looks like you should also be able to punch more holes in the curb strap, or replace it with a plain leather strap, as suggested.

I use the super short elevator cheeks with mine. https://www.farmhousetack.com/products/ovation-elevator-cheeks-pieces

You definitely need shorter cheek pieces. I used pony size ones on my mare. Also agree with others, either a longer curb chain or a curb strap. Fitting hackamores is more complicated.
