Also! Here are a couple of photos, I was allowed to cool out the incomparable Frankie after his 2 cones derby goes while she was warming up her Morgan. He doesn’t look like he needs to be entered in the open division from his super chill demeanor.
Although, I’m super proud of my reaction when, upon exit from the arena and he was still revved up, we swapped and I walked him to the end of the lot, past where any trailers were parked. I don’t know what he saw/smelled/made up, but he gave me a spook and took off at a fast trot. I briefly wondered if I was going to get run away with. Certainly not! After I stopped giggling (just let him trot for 15 strides or so) and gave him a quiet downward ask and he was like, “oops, my bad, how embarrassing” and returned to being a VSE VGB (very small equine, very good boy) and was reminded that this was cooling out, so drooling along is encouraged! Low energy/low heart rate for a while, then you can get a nice long drink and hang out in the shade of the trailer.
The cones derby itself was super interesting and I learned a ton by watching and hearing the clinic!
