Adrienne Lyle retired? Does anyone know what happened?
I was just wondering that too. No score
Keep an eye on Steffen’s newish (2023) ride Mani’s Endeavor in the small tour at Hagen.
He’s talented, elegant, and had very deserved soft landing in Steffen’s barn.
Looks like USA is doing well!
I didn’t see her first ride, but this is from https://dressage-news.com/2024/06/06/danish-olympian-nanna-skodborg-merrald-on-blue-hors-zepter-leads-hagen-cdi3-grand-prix-after-first-day-adrienne-lyle-on-helix-3rd-endel-ots-on-bohemian-4th/
Adrienne had mixed fortunes Thursday, retiring midway through her ride on Lars van de Hoenderheide, another Zen Elite horse that she began competing a couple of months ago.
“I chose to retire Lars because something in his body felt uncomfortable today when I went into the ring,” Adrienne explained. “The signs he was giving me may have been subtle for the observer but I could tell something wasn’t quite right so I chose to stop. Our partnership is still very new and I want to be sure he always trusts me and that I don’t push him if he isn’t feeling right. I am very fortunate to have an owner and trainer who think this same way and were fully supportive of the decision. We will of course get him fully checked to make sure he is feeling 100%. In the meantime he gets to rest for the rest of the weekend and cheer on his barn mate, Helix.”
Team USA para riders won all three of their grades today, although they are not going up against anyone from Great Britain or Denmark - they are set to win this one easily if tomorrow goes the same. Next weekend is the final observation for US-based teams, should be very interesting to see who makes the team and alternates!
Hagen is in the past, now the US riders are splitting up and headed to different shows in Rotterdam and Kronberg for more qualification rounds. Steffen will go to Aachen in July.
