This event is huge! There are 4 divisions of Novice and 4 of BN. Why do they not have all the usual divisions? They are all listed as Open, not Horse, Rider, etc.
It usually has many many divisions. I think they limited entries this year though?
It is because it is our area’s Team Challenge event. So all of the BN-Prelim are teams only and compete as Open (teams can be made up of a mixture of pros, ammies, horse, rider, etc.). Usually they also do a T3D and P3D, but those were cancelled this year with Covid. They added the 3* short and long this year, which brought in a bunch of big names we don’t usually see.
I was jump crew yesterday (I’m usually a scribe, jump crew is not for weenies really! I’m sore today, lol) and it was really great to be able to see a competition and fun to have the big names!
This event is a team challenge. BN thru T have 4 open divisions and P has 2. Teams are made up of 4 riders and all 4 riders are put into the different 4 divisions so each team member gets a different judge and it’s fair to everyone. BN had a 5th division of riders who were not part of a team. It’s really a lot of fun and draws riders from all over. Especially this year since they added the upper levels because of the many cancellations this year. I am sorry they didn’t have the P3D or T3D, but with covid restrictions and over 600 horses entered this year, it makes sense why they didn’t run it.
And if anyone decides to enter for the first time, you need to enter first day as it is almost always oversubscribed and they do a drawing for people who entered first day to see if they get in or waitlisted.
