I bought a beautiful pair of Gators from Fuller Fillies but the zipper starts at the top and goes down…I just can’t manage that with my left hand! It is so crazy! It seems weird to make them that way…NO? I am bending to the left with my leg propped on something trying to dig into the back of my knee to get the zipper on it’s tracks and I eventually give up and have to go lay down for a minute. LOL! I don’t think I will be able to use them. Any recommendations? I bought these because they look like boots, which I wanted.
AND I was thinking of soaking them in hot water and then putting them on (with my husband’s help) and seeing if they would become easier to handle. Seem like a good idea? 
Sounds like they just need to stretch a little. When my newest pair were a little too snug to be comfortable and difficult to zip; I just zipped them over the top of my dress boots and left them that way for a couple of days. If you don’t have tall boots you can make a thick roll of magazines or newspapers to zip them over.
BTW, I’ve had very good luck with TredStep half chaps. Pick a model that has an elastic panel, the fit is much more forgiving.

I’ve got two pairs of half chaps from two different manufacturers. The zippers on both start at the top and go down. I thought that was just the way half chaps were made.
