Around here (everywhere?), Ariat Terrains are an extremely popular boot choice among endurance riders. Running Bear used to make half chaps that fit over them…but no more. :no:
Anybody found a good replacement?? I know Ariat makes half chaps to go with the boots, but they don’t fit me well (too tight and tall) and are $$$ anyway. I guess Ariat’s half chaps can be ordered in special sizes, but again, $$$.

They will fit over the Terrains and are shorter, wider and cheap! Should you want to spend more money I can suggest the basic Tredstep suede half-chap. They make every calf/height combo imaginable. I just bought a 16/16 pair and they also fit over the Terrains. Honestly, the aren’t that much nicer than the Equigrips but cost three times as much.

With whatever you get, do not get neo-prene or anything other than suede.
My friend insisted on those and she got a horrible heat rash, athletes foot BAD, and it got infected on her baby moo-moo’s.

I second this post. I have these half chaps and use them over my terrains…works great. Also, if the height of the chaps is still an issue consider have your shoe repair guy cut them down for you. The cost is usually minimal…I mean like less than $5.00.

i use treadsteps over my terrains. i do like a snug fit and i like them tall.
My husband just got a pair of the dublin mesh chaps for summer. They fit over the terrains fine.
I can fit Med/Tall Dublins over my Terrains, but they are “well broke-in”
My mom rides in half chaps over her terrians. Pretty sure they’re either Ariat or Ovation - she tends to stick to those brands. She’s had the half chaps for years though - before she had the terrains.
