Unsold tickets to the next day’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games events will be offered at half price the night before at Cheapside Park during the Spotlight Lexington Festival.
Mayor Jim Newberry made the announcement from the main stage at Courthouse Plaza as he opened the festival’s rain-delayed opening concerts Friday night.
“The concept is just like at Times Square in New York with Broadway show tickets,” Newsberry said afterward. “These are empty seats that otherwise might go unsold the day of the event.”

WONDERFUL!

I am from the old-school journalism. Who, What, WHEN and WHERE!

The first thing I thought was sooo okay Cheapside Park and WHERE is that???

when I goggle this it says 251 W. Main St.

And then I ask myself - what hours is this open???

And what IS this that someone would be looking for - a booth, a building, a park w/ a tent set up??

It’s a kiosk in Cheapside Park, apparently. I don’t know the hours, sorry.

Yeah!! I’ll do this to buy tickets for the morning sessions on the days I am volunteering in the afternoon

So I just went and purchased tickets for tomorrow morning’s reining 11 am session.

A big HEADS UP…1/2 price is deducted from the ORIGINAL ticket price…not the one listed on ticket master. I.E. the original price for Reining tickets is $95 with 50% off of that is 47.50 and they round UP to $50. Still a discount but a little shock from the $37 I was expecting.

SmplySweet1021 - Check around wherever the front entrance is for regular people (not scalpers) selling tickets. I just dropped off my unsold tickets with a friend who is going and she’ll try to get $20 at most for them. I’m guessing she isn’t the only one who will be trying to dump tickets. There were tons on ebay and CraigsList that didn’t sell.

Both at the Breeders Cup and at the 1996 Olympics, it was quite easy to find people selling tickets. I actually wasn’t thinking at the Breeders Cup of selling mine, had just written off my $200-whatever for a box of 6 when I only had 2 as my loss. But walking up to Churchill Downs, there was a man going along the line who asked me if I had tickets (and it wasn’t that I was standing there with a handful visible). I did happen to have my full original mailing envelope of 6, luckily, and got $80 back, $20 each. Less than I paid, but I was glad for anything.

got tickets today

So i got a 1/2 price ticket to session 1 of Grand Prix dressage tomorrow. The guy there said many of their unsold tickets are the pricey seats–so mine were $67 instead of $125. The booth opens at 4; only 2 other people were there waiting for tickets, so no crowds or anything…

went by there last night and it was closed so not sure what is going on with the booth :frowning:

I found the ticket booth tonight, after a brief search. It’s well hidden. I expected it to be in the pavilion. It’s up on the steps of the old courthouse (now the History Museum). It was open when I got there at 5 PM, but the tickets I wanted for reining tomorrow were sold out. They would have sold me a ticket for 3-day dressage for $30. That’s not a bad deal, compared to $25 for a grounds pass with no event admission. But I don’t even watch dressage when it’s free.

Does anyone know what time the booth is open tomorrow? I’m driving up for the weekend and I’d love to get some eventing dressage tickets, but I don’t want to leave and drive early if the place wont even be open to buy tickets until later.

We saw them selling the half price tickets in the park today. Here are the details:

The discount ticket booth will be located daily at Centre Pointe from noon to 2 P.M. and at Cheapside Park from 4 P.M. To 11 P.M. Or until tickets are sold out. This Friday will be the only day they won’t be offering half-price tickets.

Note that XC is sold out and also grounds passes for Saturday are also sold out, so they will not be out there on Friday. Hope that helps.
