Hall of Fame Show Jumper Genetics Analyzed via Pedigree

Interesting article. Does anyone know who wrote it? (I could not find the writer’s name on the article and a Google search just showed other links to the article.)

Given that there is an ad for Katherine Kirsan’s book on Standardbred Sport Horses and that she has a business and website on pedigrees in sport horses, my guess is that the article comes from her. But it’s just a guess. If you Google that name, you’ll find her website and can see if the article is there. If it’s not her, it’s probably Peter Birdsall. One could figure out how old the article actually is by checking the Show Jumping Hall of Fame and determining when it was composed of only twenty-five horses. If that is close to the current number, then it’s probably Kirsan; if out of date by approximately ten years, then I’d guess Birdsall.

After reading the article, it’s definitely Kirsan. I don’t happen to agree with much of what she says. For instance, it’s no surprise that Birdcatcher is so prominent, since his is very much the largest family in Thoroughbreds.
